1.0 OVERVIEW
A Cisco Smart Account is a customer centralized account that provides full visibility and access
control to receive, activate, and manage Cisco Smart Licenses.
This guide demonstrates how to manage your Smart Account.
2.0 ACCESS SMART ACCOUNTS
1. Log in to Cisco Software Central (CSC).
2. Under Administration tab, click Manage Smart Account.
The following five tabs are used to manage your Smart Account:
1. Account Properties – Account name can be modified
2. Virtual Accounts – Add or edit a virtual account
3. Users – Add or edit users, including selecting Smart Account Roles to users
4. Account Agreements – View Smart Licensing Agreements, their date, status, and the
Approver/Administrator who signed the agreement
5. Event Log – View all the activity at the Smart Account level to have better visibility into
the Smart Account, including filtering results by specific data range, event type, or
search by user who took the action.
3.0 MANAGE SMART ACCOUNTS
3.1 Account Properties
3.1.2 Edit account name
1. In Account Properties tab, click Name.
2. Edit name
NOTE: Account name can be modified by Account Approver or Administrator. The account
name should reference the company name, to mirror the Domain of the account owner’s
company. For example, If the domain is Cisco.com, the account name should be Cisco.

3.2 Virtual Accounts
3.2.1 Add a new Virtual Account
1. In Virtual Accounts tab, click New Virtual Account.
2. Enter name and description and make it the default account if desired
3. Click Save.

3.2.2 Edit or Delete a Virtual Account
1. Click on the Virtual Account listed you want to edit. You can also search for Virtual
Accounts using the search function on the Virtual Accounts page.
2. Edit name, description, and change default in the General tab.
3. Edit user in the User tab.
4. Click Delete Account to delete the Virtual Account.
3.3 Users
All users associated with the account are displayed in the Users tab
3.3.1 Add a new user
1. Click Users tab.
2. Under Users, click New User.
Step 1: Identify New User –
1. Enter email ID or CEC ID of the new Smart account user, click Search.
The system verifies whether a profile has been set up for them or not. If there is a match,
the pop up will automatically populate the details, including name, email address,
Cisco.com ID and Company
2. Click Next.

Step 2: Select Roles
1. Assign a user role. The Smart Account Administrator can assign the following roles:
Smart Account User
Smart Account Administrator
Smart Account Approver
Assign to Specific Virtual Account only
2. Click Next.
Step 3: Review and Confirm
1. Review the user information and proposed role assignment.
2. Click Add User.
The new Smart Account user will be listed in the Users tab now.
The new user will receive an email confirmation regarding their new role.

3.3.2 Modify or reassign roles of an existing user
1. Select the User name from the User tab. A pop-up appears with General user
information. Click the Role Management tab.
2. Select Virtual Accounts
3. Select role to edit or reassign.
The Smart Account Administrator can also modify another user’s role to any role, including
Smart Account Administrator or Smart Account User.

As roles are changed, an email confirmation will be sent to the user with the previous role, as
well as their new role. Changes will also be logged in Event Logs.
NOTE: Smart Account Users and Virtual Account Users will be able to remove themselves from
the Smart Accounts to which they are assigned.
3.3.3 Add a new Virtual Account user
The process to add a new Virtual Account user is similar to that of adding a Smart Account
User.
1. Click Users tab.
2. Under Users, click New User.
Step 1: Identify New User
1. Enter email ID or CEC ID of the new Smart account user, click Search.
The system verifies whether a profile has been set up for them or not. If there is a match,

2. Click Next.
Step 2: Select Roles
1. Assign roles to specific Virtual Accounts only, to set up appropriate permissions
2. Select the appropriate Virtual Account from the dropdown menu.
3. Select the corresponding role you would like to assign to the new user – either an
Administrator Role or User Role.
4. Select Next.

Step 3: Review and Confirm
1. Review the information entered and click Add User.
The new Virtual Account user will be listed in the Users tab. They will receive an email
confirmation regarding their new role.
NOTE: The user being added will only have access to the Virtual Account to which they were
assigned.
Virtual Account Administrators can view user information by selecting the User name from the
main User tab. A pop-up appears with General user information and the option work on Role
Management.
Modify Role Privileges for Existing user
1. Select the User name from the main User tab. A pop up appears with General user
information, and the option to work on Role Management.

3.4 Account Agreements
In the customer Smart Account, you can view Account Agreements (Smart Licensing
Agreements), their date, status, and the Approver/Administrator who signed the Agreement.
1. Click Account Agreements.
NOTE: The Smart Account Administrator or Approver can accept the Smart Licensing
Agreement.

3.5 Event Log
In the Event log, you can view all activity at the Smart Account level to have better visibility into
the Smart Account.
1. Click Event Log.
You can filter results by a specific date range, event type (user management, Virtual Account
management, or Smart Account management, or search by the user who took the action.
