About“TheArcticCircle”OrganizationTheArcticCircle(www.thearcticcircle.org) isanot-for-profitartistandscientistledannualexpeditionaryresidencyprogramnowhavingsailedits11thyear.Itbringstogether30–32internationalartistsofalldisciplines,scientists,architects,andeducatorswhocollectivelyexploretheHigh-ArcticSvalbardArchipelagoandArcticOceanaboardTheAntigua(Dutch),atraditionallyrigged3-mastBarquentinetallship.Itmeasures165ft.longwith16fullyequippedcabins,has7crew,and4GuidestoensuresafelandingexcursionsusingtwoZodiacdinghies.Participantselectioniscompetitive,drawingfromhundredsofapplicationsfromaroundtheworld,requiringaletterofresearchintent,visualsupports,curriculumvitaeandlettersofreference.Participantsareresponsiblefortheirownfeesandtransportation.TheArcticCircleorganizationprovidesrelatedfollow-upfacilitationofexhibitions,publishingandinternationalcollaborations.Whilesailingexperienceisnotnecessary,participantshavetheopportunitytohelpwithcrewing.
