CIPTEC aims to bring a new thinking and innovative solutions (service concepts and business models) for public transport, in order to create a favourable environment for PT growth.
The research will provide an overview and analysis of existing innovative approaches in various areas, giving emphasis, among others, on customer orientation, operational service concepts and synergies with other modes.
New innovative solutions will be also suggested and evaluated through collective intelligence methods. A toolbox as guidance for introducing and integrating innovative transport approaches / services will be developed to support Public Transport operators / authorities. Moreover, policy and regulatory recommendations will be validated and presented.
The work will be accompanied by an online platform and by special workshops with stakeholders from different socio-economic contexts which will be tasked to apply model innovation strategic plans of sustainable and replicable value.

1. To gather and analyse customer “intelligence” improving the understanding of urban public transport demand
2. To collect market intelligence to allow the demystifying of the urban public transport supply
3. Advanced motivational insights undergoing transport related behaviour
4. Mapping and identification of promising innovative approaches and co-creation of novel integrated solutions and business models for urban PT
5. Translation, validation and capitalization of results through an extended platform of motivated stakeholders for PT innovation

In the frame of CIPTEC, we will:
1.study the demand side and how its needs are affected by the continuous changes
2.look to the supply in an attempt to recognise the needs and understand the distinct challenges PT providers face
3.identify and map promising existing innovation from PT and adjacent fields
4.initiate a collective intelligence approach to crowd-source and co-produce novel solutions to tackle underserved needs
5.survey public transport users to appreciate and measure the differences in preferences for the promising innovations
6.look for motivation triggers able to achieve behaviour change
7.provide a toolbox aggregating our results to support stakeholders
8.invite the broader PT community and the social entrepreneurs to build on CIPTEC results
