OVERVIEW 5CIM REVIEW 2014
HIGHLIGHTS 2014 SEASON RECAP: QUICK SUMMARY: For the 2014 summer/season, Colts In Motion continued its mission to connect with members of
the community in a unique and interactive way. As part of this grassroots marketing initiative,
CIM traveled over 11,600 miles to vist 63 different cities throughout Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky.
Building off of the 2013 seasons, CIM made four more appearances (160 total) and implemented its
first ever College Tailgate Tour.
NEW TRAILER FEATURES: CIM went through a complete rebranding. Along with a modernized and more memorable
logo, the trailer showcased a completely redesigned exterior and a new inflatable
horseshoe. Additionally, by adding a new touchscreen station, CIM took a major step
towards its mission to become even more interactive with visitors. Featuring the newest
interactive technology, the touchscreen allows for fans of all ages to learn more about the
team and its community involvement and also test their Colts knowledge. CIM also updated
its penny press images and all team information and equipment within the trailer.
COLLEGE TAILGATE TOUR: CIM traveled to six different college football games at campuses across the state as part
of its first ever College Tailgate Tour. Stationed outside of each universitys stadium for
three hours prior to kickoff, the tour featured register to win opportunities, cheerleader
appearances, exclusive giveaway items and free posters.

OVERVIEW 8CIM REVIEW 2014
COMMON CHALLENGES ENTRANCE/EXIT STRATEGIES: CHALLENGE: Despite multiple confirmations from Colts contacts, one of the more common issues CIM faced
in the 2014 season was not having enough space to easily enter or exit its parking location.
Furthermore, in certain circumstances, event contacts would a lot enough space for CIM, but would
not account for other obstacles (such oncoming traffic or blind spots). In one particular scenario,
Wayne broke one of the trucks back windows because he was forced to make a sharp jack-knife
turn out of
the location.
RESOLUTION: While this entrance/exit strategy issue has never been completely avoidable throughout CIMs
history, One way it could be addressed is by requiring all event contacts to supply photos of the
proposed location and drawn out entrance and exit strategies for CIM. After implementing this
strategy in August, CIM had significantly less entrance/exit
issues occur.
EVENTS WITH SMALL ATTENDANCES: CHALLENGE: A number of events had a significantly less amount of people attended than what their contact
had indicated on their applications. Most golf outings had particularly low attendances because all
attendees were already on the course. While it is not always necessarily bad for CIM to attend small
events, it is a problem when one event is selected over a better attended event.
RESOLUTION: To avoid this issue from happening as much, this review has provided assessments on each event
CIM attended during the 2014 season. With an easy-access reference book such as this, next years
CIM travel coordinator should have adequate resources to make more informed decisions between
conflicting event requests. Furthermore, it is highly recommended that the next travel coordinator
spend significant time with event contact to determine the best foot-traffic areas and hours for CIM.

Fixed?
BACK DOOR ON LEFT SIDE HYDRAULICS: Back side door is significantly heavier than the front side door. Hydraulics need to be fixed.

has taken Pam and Wayne over an hour to start at select events this year.
Fixed?
HITCH: Hitch has been squeaking intermittently while driving on the road. Wayne wants to get this
looked at to make sure it fully attaches.

Updates 40CIM REVIEW 2014
DISPLAY IDEASNEW DISPLAY/EXHIBIT IDEAS: TUNNEL WALK PRESENTATION: At this station, fans would experience the tunnel walk just as the players do. This
experience would include music and an exclusive video with actual tunnel walk sounds
and sights. Consider replacing current Lucas Oil Stadium blueprints video with this new
presentation. See here for example.
COACHS CORNER: An interactive learning area where fans can get a better understanding of play calling and
the thinking that goes behind it. Feature a video that has a Colts representative break
down past plays from the 2014 season, include a touch screen playbook that explains
elements of different formations and types of plays, let fans create their own plays, etc.
Feature tablet technology with the station. This station could replace one of CIMs lesser
used stations - the Colts Official Football 101 Playbook.
BROADCASTING BOOTH - YOU MAKE THE CALL: Give fans the opportunity to commentate Colts plays in action. Utilize TV monitor and
speaker (currently used for combine footage) and install headset or mic. Run game footage
and encourage fans to test their broadcasting skills. Video could run quick shorts of Bob
Lamey giving quick tips before game footage is shown. Roster and name pronunciations
could be shrink-wrapped to the wall.
PICTURE POSE STATION: Create an interactive portrait station where fans can creatively act out different displays
of athleticism on the field. Backdrop would be a in-game field view at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Station would feature a prop, such as: a posing Blue, a football in mid-air, a life-size high-
fiving Colts player cut-out, etc. Consider replacing Blues current wall image with this.
-
Updates 41CIM REVIEW 2014
CIM INTERIOR Continued NEW DISPLAY/EXHIBIT IDEAS - CONTINUED: REACTION TEST: Attach a Hit-the-Dot reaction tester on a wall (via tablet or actual light). Fans can test
their reaction time and compare their scores with an infographic displaying average
reaction times of Colts or NFL players.
For a Hit-the-Dot example, visit:
http://faculty.washington.edu/chudler/java/dottime.html.
LOCKER: Install a locker replica of a featured Colts player. Give fans an inside lock as to what an NFL
players locker looks like. Store it with game used equipment and the latest Colts gear. The
top of the locker can include a monitor that shows a video of Colts locker room moments
and celebrations.
CHEER ROUTINE GRAPHICS: Put up new graphics that breakdowns simple dance moves or a portion of one of Cheers
routines. This would make Cheerleadings wall a little more interactive.

SPONSORSHIPRECOMMENDATIONS
-
Sponsorship 43CIM REVIEW 2014
SPONSORSHIPSIGNAGE OPPORTUNITIES: SPEEDWAY:
Speedway can become the official fuel supplier of CIM. With over 11,600 miles
traveled in 2014, CIM would serves as a mobile billboard for Speedway locations all
across the state.
MEIJER:
CIM currently serves as Colts signage for all Meijer Blue Friday events. Offer Meijer
the opportunity to place their logo on the outside of CIM (similar to McDonalds).
CIM can also appear at requested Meijer events around the state.
LUCAS OIL:
CIM already has an entire wall dedicated to Lucas Oil Stadium. As an automotive
supplier and major sponsor of the Colts, an official partnership between Lucas Oil
and CIM would make sense for both parties. As part of the partnership, Lucas Oil
would be allowed to use CIM for promotional imagery and events.
YOKOHAMA OR INDY TIRE:
Yokohama or Indy Tire can become the official tire supplier of CIM. As part of
the partnership, Yokohama/Indy Tire could use CIM for promotional imagery and
advertisements.
-
Sponsorship 44CIM REVIEW 2014
SPONSORSHIPDISPLAY OPPORTUNITIES: KLIPSCH:
Create an in-game or pre-game sound experience station. Consider involving
Andrew Luck, who is also sponsored by Klipsch. As another opportunity, use
Klipsch speakers for outside CIM and label them with Klipsch signage.
MICROSOFT SURFACE:
CIM could be utilized as a traveling display of Microsoft tablet technology.
Featuring Microsoft Surface technology, the trailer could add a new interactive
game manager station, which would allow fans to draw out plays, view game film
breakdowns, control camera angles, and interact with football at a whole new level.
CIM could even utilize multiple Surfaces throughout the trailer to make each section
more interactive.
INDY STAR:
Create an Indy Star Colts headline exhibit. Fans would be able to delve into the
depths of Colts history and re-read past Colts stories and view past Colts photos
via tablet or touchscreen. Graphic element could be added to wall that includes
headlines from significant moments in Colts history.

then leave. Most did not go in CIM. This is the third year in
a row CIM was there and it has been the same result
every year.

NOTES:
Located in parking lot far away from stadium. Had lots
of room, but almost too much room. Event was not near
anything else, so it was a little of the way for people to
get to. Had the lowest attendance of all Fan Fest this year.
However, people that attended were very excited the
Colts came out to their city. It may make more sense in the
future to be in a higher foot traffic area thats closer
to downtown.
