Essence of Sunday SermonEssence of Sunday Sermon

【Exodus 6 】 Rev. Philip Chin Mar 10, 2013 Sunday Service

Introduction The Israelites were enslaved for over 400 years. In their hearts, perhaps they have already confirmed that their fates are to be slaves. Until the appearance of Moses, who brought the message of God’s re-demption, then only the situation began to change. Moses recounted his encounter with God as well as the message of God’s redemption to the Israelites and this was something for which they have been waiting for a very long time. However this only enraged Pharaoh who afflicted them more. Because of this, the Israelites changed their minds and put the blame on Moses: “When they left Pharaoh, they

found Moses and Aaron waiting to meet them, 21

and they said, “May the LORD look on you and

judge you! You have made us obnoxious to Pharaoh and his officials and have put a sword in their

hand to kill us.” (Exo. 5: 20-21) Through Moses, God comforted the Israelites with the blessings of re-demption, of which there were three promises and seven blessings.

1. Leaving Egypt – Salvation A. Freed from the yoke of slavery

“Therefore, say to the Israelites: ‘I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of

the Egyptians. I will free you from being slaves to them, and I will redeem you with an out-

stretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment.” (Exo. 6: 6) God wanted to free the Israelites from Egypt and from their yoke. At the same time that God heard the cries of the Israelites, He also remembered the covenant that He had made with Abraham, (Exod. 5: 5) God wants to save those who has a covenant with Him.

Sin has enslaved our lives, accusing us, causing us to be burdened by guilt, and in the end be sepa-rated from God and enter into death. Because of this our lives are without freedom, just like the Israelites then. Nevertheless, Jesus came to free us: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new

creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Cor. 5: 17) Jesus has removed our transgressions from us as far as the east is from the west (Psa. 103: 12)

B. Saved from the bondage of slavery The Israelites have been enslaved for generations. God rescued them from the curse of slavery through the ten plagues. Apart from transforming their situation, God also transformed their identities. Sinners are just like the Israelites, in bondage, beings slaves to sin. Are we in bondage to gambling, lust, fear, worry, etc?

These bondages jeopardize our health. Research shows that one of the reasons for women’s breast cancer is being emotionally enslaved by resentment and bitterness. But the good news is, Jesus’ salvation does not only deliver us from our burdens, but He also breaks all bondages and curses from us, delivering us from our identities as slaves. “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, be-

cause he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim free-

dom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free.” (Luke 4: 18)

C. The price of the redemption from slavery The meaning of “redemption” is to “pay the price in order to repurchase an item”; This price is the blood of the lamb. The blood of the lamb of Passover became the price for the redemption of the Israelites from the plague of the death of the firstborn; Whereas the blood of Jesus redeemed us, exempting us from the fate of hell. We all belong to God originally but then sin separated us from God, and finally God Himself paid the ultimate price in order to redeem us.

4

2. New Identity – Being Adopted God promised to rescue the Israelites from their identities as slaves and instead become His people. “I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the LORD

your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians.” (Exo. 6: 7)

A. God’s own people God’s own people, called “SEGULLAH” in Hebrew, means: Treasured possession. This treasured possession is kept within God’s heart (Exo. 19: 5). The blood covenant that we have with Jesus has allowed us to become God’s treasured possession, which is people belonging to God. As such, Je-sus taught the disciples to refer to God as “Father”, signifying that we are His children and that He is our Father.

We are no longer as slaves, but rather, treasured possessions which have a special place in God’s heart. As long as we live within this covenant, obey His will, we will continue to enjoy the special rights and blessings of the covenant, receive His grace, blessings and loving protection. This rela-tionship cannot be destroyed and cannot be stopped by anyone.

3. The Land of Protection and Security “And I will bring you to the land I swore with uplifted hand to give to Abraham, to Isaac and to

Jacob. I will give it to you as a possession. I am the LORD.’” (Exo. 6: 8)

A. Promised land of residence Apart from promising the Israelites deliverance from their yoke and bondage, God also promised to lead them into the promised land which they could possess and where they would receive pro-tection and blessings, which is the country of Israel now.

“I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my

hand.” (John 10: 28) The purpose God called us is to allow us to enter into the promised land which He has planned for us – Heaven.

B. Promised Inheritance The land that God promised the Israelites was one flowing with milk and honey (Exo. 3: 8), they could receive God’s inheritance and blessings on this land. Flowing milk and honey means that God’s blessings is on the land, causing it to flourish and to provide supply for man.

Through Jesus Christ, we are able to inherit spiritual inheritance and blessings and to receive sup-ply. “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s

house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to pre-

pare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be

with me that you also may be where I am.” (John 14: 1-3)

This is the inheritance given by Jesus to us, it has spiritual proof and will not transferred to others. “Who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s

possession (Original language: Inheritance) —to the praise of his glory.” (Exo. 1: 14)

Conclusion Our Almighty God’s promises are not in vain. As long as we enter into the blood covenant with Jesus, accept Jesus Christ as the Lord and King of our lives, these promises shall surely come to pass. Amen!

<Kingdom Invasion>, Singapore

There were 32 of us who went to attend the 3-Day Kingdom Invasion conference in Singapore. The

speakers include Rev Heidi Baker, Rev, Randy Clark and Rev Tom Jones. We were touched by Rev

Randy Clark who has brought with him more than 20 people, on their own expenses, to assist in the

prayer ministry at the conference. Over 500 people were healed at the Open Night Meeting. The

speakers have strongly encouraged everyone to grab hold of the gifts (prophetic words, promises and

destiny) that came from God and to walk on the path of victory. God would surely waters on the seed

of the prophetic words that have been planted so that it will germinate and grow.

Do not give up easily just because you have not seen any results yet after a long period of waiting or

when you are met with obstacles. Please don’t give up! Please do not hold on too dearly to the re-

sources in your hand. God took away that one dollar in your hand so that he could replace it with a

ten dollar into your hand. Walk out of your sentiment or comfort zone! Entrust everything to God be-

cause He wants us to “Dream BIG!” Give glory to God when our dreams are realised.

In these 3 days, everyone was fully renewed and refreshed, and was prepared to return to their place

as the great army of God’s kingdom to fight for the Lord.

<Rose Of Sharon Ministry> 3 Years Anniversary Celebration

GA611 Ladies Ministry celebrated their 3 years anniversary on 19 March. On the

same day, they have also announced that their name to be officially changed to the

Roe of Sharon. There were about 31 attendees, and one of which accepted Christ on

that day. Every guest received a bookmark with the Rose of Sharon scriptures and

door gift, which added to the feeling of surprises and warmth.

The meeting commemorated the events of the Ladies Ministry for the past 3 years

which testified to their beginning and progress. After watching a touching movie on

the Exodus, Reverend explained the origin and meaning of the Rose of Sharon and

pointed out the future hope and anticipation for the Rose of Sharon. In the end, eve-

ryone declared that by God’s power they will be freed from oppression and to walk

out of Egypt (Trap) as the kingdom’s great army!
