possible without the love, commitment and dedication of our Confirmation Team.
Today, we would like to honor these very special people, many of whom begin volunteering as catechists when they were mere teens themselves. They stayed active through their college years; assuming full time jobs; into married life and parenthood …. AMAZING! Transfiguration is truly blessed to have this incredible Team! Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner Italian Catholic Federation monthly dinner at Our Lady of Grace Stack Hall, Thursday, March 12th. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. Cost is $15 members, $20 non-members, $8 Kids 10 and under. Also, St. Joseph’s Table, homemade desserts will be a fundraiser for St. Vincent de Paul Society. Dear Parishioner, Lent is the season of turning to the Lord. The ashes that we received on Ash Wednesday on our foreheads are a sign that we’re part of a community that is beginning together a sacred time of repentance – of turn-ing back to God. We continue this sacred, communal time of penance with special days of communal fasting and abstinence called by the church. This is an important as-pect of Lent, as we, the people of God, turn back to our Father asking for forgiveness… REPENT AND BELIEVE IN THE GOSPEL. Blessings upon you on Lent. Fr. Mario L. #42 Greater investment needs to be made in research aimed at understanding more fully the functioning of eco systems and adequately analyzing the different variables associated with any significant modification of the envi-ronment. Because all creatures are connected, each must be cherished with love and respect, for all of us as living creatures are dependent on one another. Each area is re-sponsible for the care of this family. This will require undertaking a careful inventory of the species which it hosts, with a view to developing programmes and strate-gies of protection with particular care for safeguarding species heading towards extinction. Fr. Terry’s Remarks: We are all well aware or we should be, how intricate and delicately balanced are our family and social rela-tions. Forget a birthday! fail to notice a new hairdo or outfit! and all hell breaks loose. This can also be true in our relationships with Nature around us. Just as we go through each day totally oblivious of how many people make our lives bearable and help us in many hidden ways. So it is with insects, microbes, animals, birds and plants they may and often do play a vital role in keeping our environment around us healthy and balanced. We need to do more research and become more aware before we tip the balance and find we have cut our very life lines. Our selfishness and greed can put us on the same path to extinction that we are inflicting on so many spe-cies. Let us use this Lent as a time of deep reflection on God, his creation and ourselves.
