CURSILLO An opportunity to deepen your faith The Boston Cursillo Movement www.bostoncursillo.org
The Cursillo is a “little course in Christianity” that begins
on a Thursday evening and concludes Sunday afternoon.
Each Cursillo is an encounter with Christ in a small com-
munity of the Church, in order that Christ’s love and grace
can be brought to every aspect of life. Bill Murphy and
Mary Ann McLaughlin will be the Spiritual Directors of
upcoming weekends.
The Boston Cursillo Weekends are held at The Campion
Center, 319 Concord Road in Weston, Massachusetts. For
more information call: Chris Graf 617-332-5548.
The dates for the Cursillo Weekends are:
Men’s Weekend December 5 - 8, 2019
Women’s Weekend March 5-8, 2020
Men’s Weekend April 23-26, 2020
Each year Cardinal Sean O’Malley asks for nominations parish members for the ‘Cheverus Award’. This award recognizes a parish member for her or his service to the parish and the church. In the past members of Sacred Heart have been nominated include Mr. Dick Matulis (2008), Ms. Carole Anne Scott (2010), Mr. John Scanlon (2013) and Lucy Tor-rejon (2016)
This year Ms. Elizabeth ’Raisha’ Santana-Montolio is awarded the Cheverus Medal as recogni-tion of her service to Sacred Heart parish. Raisha told me that she honored by the recognition, howev-er the award is for all of the parish members give of their time, talent, and treasure. Parish members speak of her steadfast and dependable service to many phases of parish life for liturgy, religious edu-cation, administration, serving as a parish council member. She and other Cheverus award winners will receive this on Sunday, November 24, at 2 pm in the Cathedral of the Holy Cross.
Who is 'Cheverus’? Bishop Cheverus was the
founding Bishop of Boston and led the diocese from
1808 until his return to France in 1824.He died in
1836 as the archbishop of Bordeaux. The medal re-
cipients –who include laypeople, religious and dea-
cons -- are chosen for their service to the Church and
God’s people. Most recipients are nominated by their
parish, forwarded by their area vicar and approved
by their regional bishop and Cardinal O’Malley.

Stewardship
Stewardship is an important concept for
our spiritual growth as Catholics. It is a way of thanking God for all of the Lord’s blessings by
returning to God a portion of the time, talent, and treasure we have received.
Thirty-first Sunday in Ordinary Time
There is a simple lesson not to be missed in today’s gospel. You don’t have to be rich or poor, have a a high powered job or are looking for a job for Jesus to come to your house. All that is required is that you open your heart to Him. Zaccheus was “seeking to see who Jesus was”. The reward for this seeker was an encounter—one that got people talking! Today, people are still seeking to see who Jesus is. Some may be unaware that He is what is missing in their lives. Knowing the importance of Jesus in your own life, is there someone you know who is a seeker, like Zacchaeus, that you can introduce to Jesus?
The St. Vincent de Paul Society at Sacred Heart
is here to help you. If you, or someone you know,
is in need of assistance, please call us at the par-
ish.
PROJECT RACHEL: POST ABORTION HEALING RETREATS

INSPIRING HOPE: Our fundraising campaign for elevator,
bathrooms, and confessional area
Please watch the mail this week, we are sending out to all parish members de-scription of our plans for making Sacred Heart Church more accessible for all. These plans include an elevator, new bath-rooms, a new confessional area and mov-ing the organ in the choir loft to the main floor of the church. Please consider making a pledge to these efforts. A pledge can run for five years. We have estimated that Sacred Heart parish can raise $850,000. With pledges and gifts in hand, we can begin these needed renovations. This will al-low us to make our parish church more accessible for all present and future parish members. We ask all parish members to make a gift and a pledge to this effort. At this point we have already raised $300,000.00 or 34% towards our goal. Thank you very much for your generosity and support of Sacred Heart parish. Msgr. Frank Kelley

Please be aware! The RCAB IT Department has noted an increase in the
number of phishing emails and text targeting parishes and
parishioners in the Archdiocese of Boston.
Phishing is an attempt by fraudsters to have you transfer
money to them or purchase gift cards such as iTunes cards.
These phishing emails use the pastor’s name for the sender
and have some variant of the pastor’s name in the ‘from’
email address to give the impression it is being sent by the
pastor. Please be aware that neither Fr. Kelley nor anyone
at the parish would make such requests.
