Gospel: luke 18: 1-8 Just as our first reading was a victory story, so is the parable Jesus tells about the widow and the judge. A lowly widow comes before a judge, seeking her rights. The immoral judge ignores her, but the widow goes on pleading and nagging until he finally decides the case in her favor. He helps the widow not because he is good but because she is persistent. Jesus concludes that if a corrupt judge can do jus-tice to someone who keeps on asking, God, the most just judge of all, will certainly listen to those who persist in prayer.. 1.) Jesus himself provides a discussion question for this gospel: "When the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?" What do you think? How will you try to be one of the faithful ones?

Evangelio: lucas 18: 1-8 Al igual que en la primer lectura leímos una historia victoriosa, así también es la parábola que Jesús nos cuenta sobre la viuda y el juez. Una viuda llegó ante el juez pindiendo justicia. El inmoral juez la ignora, pero ella sigue pidiendo y demandando hasta que finalmente el juez decide el caso en su favor. El ayuda a la viuda no porque es bueno sino por la persistencia de ella. Jesús concluye que si un juez corrupto puede hacer justicia con alguien que le pide y le pide, Dios, el juez más justo de todos, ciertamente que escuchará a los que per-sisten en la oración. 1.) Jesús mismo ofrece una pregunta para el evangelio. "¿Cuándo el Hijo del Hombre regrese, encontrará fe en la tierra?" ¿Qué crees? ¿Cómo tratarás de ser uno de esos fieles?

Pastor’s Message: “ Talking with God-“ Prayer is the raising of one’s mind and heart to God, or the petition of good things from Him in accord with His will. Prayer is truly an act of “Faith”, reverence and friendship. We become God’s special friends when we pray. We become in Him, trust him and love Him. Prayer is a special privilege. Almighty God created our vast uni-verse but made only us to his image and likeness with intellect and free will. God gave us not only dominion over other creatures and resources of the world but gave us the power to know and love him for his wisdom and goodness. St. Augustine explains that to pray for a long time is not the same as to pray for as to pray by multiplying words. In Matthew’s gospel, Jesus gives us a lesson on how to pray. First we must not pray like hypocrites, that is , we must pray with humility and “Faith.” Let us all listen to the advice of our Lord in the gospel and put into practice all through our lives; “Ask and you will receive, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened to you.” Rev. Mensaje del Párroco: " Hablar con Dios " La oración es la elevación del alma a Dios o la petición de las cosas buenas de él de acuerdo con su voluntad . La oración es verdaderamente un acto de "fe" , la reverencia y la amis-tad. Nos convertimos en amigos especiales de Dios cuando ora-mos. Nos convertimos en Él, confiar en él y amarlo . La oración es un privilegio especial. Dios Todopoderoso creó nuestro vasto universo , pero sólo nos hizo a su imagen y semejan-za , con inteligencia y libre albedrío. Dios nos dio no sólo el domi-nio sobre las demás criaturas y los recursos del mundo, pero nos dio el poder de conocer y amar a él por su sabiduría y bondad . San Agustín explica que orar por un largo tiempo, no es lo mis-mo que orar como orar multiplicando palabras. En el evangelio de Mateo, Jesús nos da una lección sobre cómo orar. En primer lu-gar , no debemos orar como hipócritas , es decir, tenemos que orar con humildad y " Fe". Pongámonos todos a escuchar los consejos de nuestro Señor en el Evangelio y poner en práctica a lo largo de nuestras vidas, " Pe-did y recibiréis, buscad y encontraréis , llamad y se os abrirá. International Night 2013: It’s that wonderful time of year again! On Saturday, November 2nd, we will be having our 16th Annual Interna-

tional Night Dinner. During this evening, we have an all you can eat menu of: African-American , Chinese, Filipino, Hispanic, Irish cuisine and dessert! In addition to the great food, we have amazing entertainment from different cultures. This is one of the wonderful ways we celebrate our diversity. This is the parish’s largest fund-raiser. World Mission Sunday:

Every year, something special happens on the next-to-last Sunday of October—the world unites. On World Mission Sunday,

Catholics of the world unite at Mass to recom-mit ourselves to our vocation, to be missionar-ies through Baptism. As we pray and respond on World Mission Sunday here at our Parish, we are replicating what is also taking place in every parish and chapel all over the world. Our brothers and sisters in the Missions themselves offer their prayers and sacrifices so that others may come to know Jesus! In a world where so much divide us, World Mission Sunday rejoices in our unity as mis-sionaries! And it provides an opportunity to support the life-giving presence of the Church among the suffering and the poor in more than 1,150 mission dioceses throughout the Devel-oping World. October Mass Count: Throughout the month of October we will be conducting our annual October Mass Count. This is the time of year where we count our parishion-ers (men, women and children) as a means of measuring the attendance in the parishes from year to year. These statistics are used for report-ing to the various offices in Rome and others. Some funding and help is based on these statis-tics so we hope you will make yourself counted! The results will be reported in November.
