Introduction to the Liturgy of the Word

True humility requires that we acknowledge our weak-

nesses, our imperfections, our humanness. We are not

more important than our neighbor. Sirach offers this as

a lesson to guide the listener. Jesus tries to teach this to

the Pharisees in the Gospel we hear today. Humility

begets generosity, as it recognizes the value in our

neighbor, especially those who are put down. True

generosity is shown when giving to those who cannot

repay.

Introducción a la Liturgia de la Palabra

La verdadera humildad require que reconozcamos

nuestras debilidades, nuestras imperfecciones y nuestra

humanidad. No somos más importantes que nuestro

prójimo. El libro del Sirácide nos dice eso como una

lección que guíe al oyente. Jesús trata de enseñarles

eso a los fariseos en el Evangelio que escuchamos hoy.

La humildad engendra generosidad, pues reconoce el

valor de nuestro prójimo, sobre todo del menospre-

ciado. La verdadera generosidad se demuestra cuando

le damos a aquellas personas que no nos pueden re-

tribuir.

MUSIC MINISTRY

As summer comes to an end, we are looking

to recruit new members for the parish adult

choir. Rehearsals generally are held on Wednesday

evenings in the Church at 7:30 p.m. and the choir sings

on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. Attendance at both

times is required for membership. Anyone interested

in becoming a part of this music ministry is asked to

contact Mr. Peter Roland at the Rectory Office 718-
