The dates for the Baptism of children and for the Pre-Baptismal instruction of parents should be arranged in the rectory ONE MONTH IN ADVANCE. In addition to English, and Spanish this Sacrament may also be in Italian.

•WEDDINGS/ MATRIMONIO Pre–marital instruction is a requirement for all engaged couples. Consequently, arrangements for weddings should be made SIX MONTHS in advance.

THIRD SUNDAY OF EASTER APRIL 19, 2015 TERCER DOMINGO DE PASCUA 19 DE ABRIL, 2015 TERZA DOMENICA DI PASQUA 19 DI APRILE, 2015

“Now I know brothers that you acted out of ignorance, just as your leaders did, but God has thus brought to fulfillment what he had announced beforehand through the mouth of all the prophets, that His Christ would suffer. Repent, therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be wiped away.” I might be inclined to ask ‘Is this the same Peter we met in the patio who denied His Lord and Savior, just a few weeks ago?’ ’What enabled him to change

from fear and cowardice to speak boldly about the Paschal mystery?’ The answer is his experience of the Risen Christ and the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit. Like the Emmaus disciples our eyes too are to be opened to the words He spoke to us while He was with us. The words of Moses and the prophets and the psalms were fulfilled. Our minds are to be opened to understand the scriptures. How exciting it was for them to listen to Peter’s great sermon and be moved to repentance and conversion. The formation of missionary disciples follows these four steps: 1) A personal relationship with Jesus., 2) Conversion to Him., 3) Acceptance of His teaching., 4) Being sent as was Peter to speak of Christ. Catechesis is step three, step one in Peter’s announcement. “Ahora bien, hermanos, yo sé que ustedes obraron por ignorancia, lo mismo que sus jefes. Pero así Dios cumplió lo que había anunciado por medio de todos los profetas: que su Mesías debía padecer. Por lo tanto, hagan penitencia y conviértanse, para que sus pecados sean perdonados.” Podría yo estar inclinado a preguntar:‘¿Es este el mismo Pedro que encontramos en el patio cuando negó a Su Señor y Salvador hace apenas unas semanas?’ ‘¿Cómo logró el cambio de miedo y cobardía a valentía al hablar sobre el misterio Pascual?’ La respuesta es su experiencia del Cristo Resucitado y la iluminación del Espíritu Santo. Como los discípulos camino a Emaús se nos abren los ojos a las palabras que El habló cuando estuvo entre nosotros. Las palabras de Moisés, los profetas y los salmos fueron cumplidas. Nuestras mentes deben abrirse para comprender las escrituras. Qué emocionante debe haber sido para ellos escuchar el gran sermón de Pedro y conmoverse al arrepentimiento y conversión. La formación misionera de los discípulos sigue estos cuatro pasos: 1. Una relación personal con Jesús. 2. Conversión a El. 3. Aceptar Sus enseñanzas. 4. Ser enviados como Pedro a hablar de Cristo. La catequesis es el tercer paso, el primero de la declaración de Pedro.

Gesù, venendo nel mondo, aveva come scopo ultimo della sua vita la salvezza dell’umanità. Per questo, oltre che preoccuparsi di operare la salvezza degli uomini per mezzo della sua passione, morte e risurrezione, provvide a far giungere la salvezza a tutti i popoli della terra per mezzo dell’opera della Chiesa. A tale scopo, fin dall’inizio della sua vita pubblica, si scelse dei discepoli perché stessero con lui, perché, vivendo con lui,

seguendo i suoi esempi e le sue istruzioni, fossero formati per diventare suoi testimoni qualificati tra le genti. Gesù li formò innanzitutto alla sottomisione alla volontà del Padre, cioè all’amore della croce e allo svuotamento di se stessi (Mt 16,24-25) e li consacrò alla salvezza delle anime (Gv 17,18-20). Apparendo ai suoi apostoli, dopo la sua risurrezione, Gesù completò la formazione e l’insegnamento dato ai suoi discepoli; rivelando loro la verità del Vangelo, dette una pratica dimostrazione della realtà della vita eterna. Aprì in tal modo le loro menti alla comprensione delle Scritture e dei suoi insegnamenti, per renderli suoi testimoni autentici (cf. At 2,21-22), perché per mezzo loro la sua salvezza arrivasse a tutti gli uomini. Ogni cristiano oggi è chiamato a diventare un testimone autentico di Gesù, rivivendo in se stesso il mistero pasquale. La sua formazione cristiana è completa quando la sua vita si apre generosamente all’opera di evangelizzazione e di salvezza dei fratelli.

THE CARDINAL’S ANNUAL STEWARDSHIP APPEAL

To date our parish has received $24,104 in pledges/gifts toward the

2015 Cardinal’s Appeal, from 105 families. For this Appeal to be

truly successful, we must have support from all of our families. It is not too late to make your gift.

Please be as generous as you can. Thank you for your kind support.

CHURCH HOUSEKEEPING AND PROCEDURES:

A recent phenomenon which has been noticed by a number of our parishioners and of which we

should all be aware has been occurring during our worship. Recently the kneelers during Mass have

been allowed to noisily bang the floor before kneeling. This has been the cause of a distraction

during the Mass, particularly at the time of the "Holy, Holy". Out of respect for our prayerful celebration of the Mass, it is asked that care be

taken when lowering the pew kneelers to avoid this distraction.

Parents of children are asked to assist them in quietly lowering the

kneelers when it is necessary to kneel during the Mass.

Campaña del Cardenal 2015, por parte de 105 familias. La Campaña es un recurso vital de

fondos para los programas y ministerios que mantienen a nuestras parroquias a través de la

Arquidiócesis. Todavía están a tiempo para hacer su regalo. Por favor, sean tan generosos

LIMPIEZA DE LA IGLESIA Y PROCEDIMIENTOS:

Un fenómeno reciente que ha sido notado por un número de nuestros feligreses y de la que todos

debemos estar conscientes lo que viene ocurriendo durante nuestra adoración. Recientemente los

reclinatorios durante la Misa han sido autorizados a golpear ruidosamente el suelo antes de

arrodillarse. Esto es la causa de una distracción durante la misa, sobre todo en el momento de el "Santo, Santo". Por respeto a nuestra celebración orante de la misa, se pide que por favor baje los

reclinatorios de las bancas con cuidado para evitar

esta distracción. Se les pide a los padres que ayuden a sus niños en el momento

de bajara los reclinatorios cuando es necesario arrodillarse durante la misa.
