A Stewardship Thought …
“He said, “Come”. Peter got out of the boat and began to walk on the water toward Jesus.”
- MATTHEW 14:29
When you hear Jesus calling, do you respond im-mediately and trust that He knows what He’s doing? If so, you are walking on water! When we say “yes” to Jesus, we feel the power of his presence in our lives. We can feel the freedom it gives us! Listen how Jesus is calling you to live the extraordinary life He has in mind for you.
This Weekend’s Scripture
First Reading: 1 Kings 19:9a, 11-13a After fleeing from the revenge of the King of Israel, Eli-jah hid in a cave, but at the command of God, he went outside and stood on a mountain. There the Lord came to him, not in the wind nor in the earthquake, but in a “tiny whispering sound.”
Second Reading: Romans 9:1-5 Paul is deeply pained because the Jews - in spite of everything that has been given to them - have rejected Christ.
Gospel: Matthew 14:22-33 Matthew vividly recounts the event of Jesus walking on the water. When the disciples see this, they are terri-fied, and Jesus chastises them for their fear. Peter begs Christ to let him walk on the water; he is at first brave but begins to sink and loses faith, crying out, “Lord save me!” Christ rescues him for his faltering faith. ©1999 Bon Venture Services, Inc.

First Corinthians … The Church and the Christian Community .
The conflicts of the early Christians in Corinth are in many ways similar to our struggles today as Christians. They, too, witnessed division, scandal, immorality, per-secution and other trials. In response, St. Paul taught the Corinthians about the Church as the Body of Christ, introducing them to the most powerful gift of all: the Eucharist.
Join us for an eleven week bible study of the mes-sage of St. Paul. It will begin the week of September 19th. Sessions to be held Tuesdays at 7PM.

You Can Understand the Bible!
Reading the Bible should bring us closer to Christ, but understanding it is often difficult. The good news is that you can understand the Bible, and The Bible Time-line makes it easy. The Bible Timeline is a Catholic Bible study that can help anyone to make sense of the Bible and experience the life-changing power of God’s Word. The study takes you on a journey through the entire Bible and brings you deep into each period of salvation history, so that you can discover the amazing story woven throughout all of Scripture. The Bible Timeline has helped hundreds of thousands of people to have a better understanding of the Bible and a deep-er relationship with Christ. Join us for this 24 week bible study of beginning Sep-tember 22nd. Ses-sions will take place Fridays at 9:30 AM.
For additional infor-mation contact Katie Bolton (732)-254-2676.

News from the Society of St. Vincent de Paul
Thank you to everyone who donated to our annual Back-to-School supply drive! We are still assembling them all and we’ll have a full count next week. This will certainly get the children of our client families off to a good start this September. We can still accept last mi-nute donations for the next couple weeks.
No work of charity is foreign to our society. In the name of Christ we are here to help and to serve. If you or someone you know is in need of assistance please contact us through the parish office. In the past we’ve helped people with rent, utility, groceries, medicines and many other needs. Please put us to work.
Could you please help us by donating non-perishable food items and toiletries to our pantry? All donations are gratefully accepted but presently we especially need: pasta sauce, canned/ packaged fruit, canned tuna & chicken, peanut butter, jelly, cereals, soups, crackers, bathroom tissue and canned vegetables.
