WEEKLY NEWSLETTER | DECEMBER 9, 2018 | VOLUME 51 | ISSUE 46
Sunday PM Interactive Bible Class was focused on our ongoing study of the life of Abraham. In the process as we considered the work of God in bringing Immanuel into the world through Abraham’s lineage we studied the “Heavenlies” (as Paul refers to that abode in Ephesians). That study revealed the residents of that region: Angels both obedient and disobedient, Jesus (before he was Jesus and post resurrection), “principalities and powers” (negative forces of evil), Satan himself, and the “souls of righteous per-sons ‘made perfect’.” As well, according to Paul (Ephesians 2:6) we “have been raised with Christ and seated in the heavenlies.” BTW, if none of this makes sense or does strike a cord of interest, join us on Sunday PM from 6-7 at the building.
With all of the above said, our task of faith (2Cor.5:7) is to “walk by faith and not by sight.” We have to be careful not to get entangled with our present reality and forget or ignore that God is working with us in the heavenly dimension as we live and breathe here on earth. John tells us not to “love the world or anything in the world” (1 John 2:15ff). If we become enamored with things we experience in this present world we can become desensitized to spiri-tual realities. We may forget that it is “God who at work in us...”as Paul says in Philippians 2:13. We have to remember that walking by faith is trusting in things “unseen” (Hebrews 11:6). This is our task. Nothing else ultimately matters. What good does it do us to advance in this world if we end up losing our soul? Give it some introspective thought. Blessings, Foree

My favorite super hero is Batman. Yes, some say He’s not a super hero, but just a rich man with really really cool gadgets. Super hero or not he’s al-ways ready to help others out. I guess that’s why I like him so much. When it comes to helping people out, have you noticed that Batman’s Batphone rings at some of the busiest of times? Once, it was right be-fore his birthday party and other times he is at a gath-ering. Other times, it’s when he’s exhausted after a long hard day as Bruce Wayne. The call never seems to catch him off guard or unprepared to help others. He finishes the call, slides down his secret pole into the Batcave, hops into the Batmobile and off he goes. Here’s the thing that gets me: he never has to stop and get gas in that car or find His bat suit before he heads off to save the world. Now granted, he’s got Alfred, but if I were Batman, my first stop would most likely have to be the gas station to fill up! Will we be ready? Be prepared in season and out of season; cor-rect, rebuke and encourage — with great patience and careful instruction. –2 Timothy 4:2. For this to happen, are our own spiritual “gas tanks” filled up ready to share our hearts with others about Him? Be ready, keeping our tanks filled up and ready to do His call… whenever it comes! Hope everyone is having a great week. Todd
