As you probably know, in late December the United Nations Security Council did significant damage to the prospects for peace between Israel and the Palestinians when they issued Resolution 2334. The Obama Administration chose not to use its veto power, and by allowing the one-sided condemnation of Israel to pass the Obama Administration violated longstanding US foreign policy. Prime Minister Netanyahu called the UN resolution “distorted, shameful, delusional, and a call to arms for all of [Israel’s] friends in the US and around the world.” CUFI immediately answered the call. As soon as the resolution passed, thousands of CUFI members flooded the inboxes of Capitol Hill with our demand that Congress immediately denounce this betrayal of Israel and call upon the UN to repeal their hateful resolution. Dear Friend,

We promised you Christians United for Israel would hit the ground running in 2017, and we did just that! Our generous donors have already made it possible for us to take a bold stand against the threats that arose in December and January as the United Nations attacked Israel and the Obama administration stood aside. Because of you, CUFI was able to rush to Israel’s defense during the most serious diplomatic crisis with the United States government in decades and emerged from the fight with the gratitude of leaders in Washington and Jerusalem.

Our friends on Capitol Hill responded, and the House passed a strong pro-Israel resolution with overwhelming bipartisan support.

Then in early January, when Israel feared there would be another attempt to stab them in the back at the UN one more time before a new president could intervene, over 260 CUFI leaders flew to Washington DC for an emergency summit. These passionate men and women dropped everything at a moment’s notice to put their faith in action and raise their

voices as representatives of CUFI’s 3.3 million defenders of Israel. Amazingly, we had representatives from 49 of the 50 states come to DC, and despite a multitude of conflicting priorities on Capitol Hill during several important speeches and confirmation hearings, we were able to get appointments with 92 Senate offices.

The emergency summit achieved its desired result. We received a host of commitments from senators regarding the issues upon

which we lobbied, and developed deeper relationships with both staff and elected officials in the new Congress. The media in the US and Israel widely covered CUFI’s efforts, and further cemented CUFI’s new role as the standard bearer for pro-Israel Christians. for Israel will not allow America to betray Israel. It was an historic moment, and we could not have done it without your support.

Regrettably, the damage done by the former administration’s betrayal of Israel at the UN has already had real world consequences. After the UN declared that all of East Jerusalem, including the Old City and the Western Wall, is illegally occupied territory and that Jewish homes in their ancestral land are the main barrier to peace, the Palestinian government predictably seized on this golden opportunity to demonize Israel. The hateful rhetoric toward Jews led to an immediate resurgence of Palestinian violence, and in January a terrorist drove his truck into a crowd of IDF soldiers in Jerusalem. Fifteen people were wounded, and four young soldiers were killed – including two who were also American citizens. Our hearts break for the lives lost and forever changed by this murderous hatred. The world leaders who condemned the terrorist attack fail to see that it is their own demonization of Israel at the UN and refusal to hold Palestinian leaders accountable for inciting terror that encourages more death and prevents peace.

The new presidential administration has vowed to make changes, and as we move forward into 2017 every single CUFI member must play an active role in making sure our nation’s leaders keep their promises to repair and strengthen the US-Israel relationship. Even leaders with the best of intentions need to be reminded that we are watching and will do whatever it takes to come between Israel and those who wish to do harm to the Jewish State.

That is why we need you to make every effort to join us in July for the Washington DC Summit. We now have the attention of Congress, the White House, and the media. When we assemble on Capitol Hill as a united force, they will listen. It is extremely important that every state and every Congressional district overflow the offices on Capitol Hill with thousands of Christians ready to make it clear that Israel is the greatest friend and ally the United States has in the world.

This year we are asking all of our members to become an active part of Israel’s story. We need your help to build on our momentum and secure Israel’s future. If you are able to give again to help us fill the war chest for the battles we must fight in 2017, your generosity will be greatly appreciated. We are deeply grateful for all of your prayers and everything you have already done to support Israel and CUFI, and in the coming weeks and months we will introduce several new ways for you to play an even greater role in answering the call to bless and defend Israel. Thank you for standing with us as we embark on the next phase of God’s plan for CUFI.
