ASSESSMENT PLAN

The Need for Assessment

Measuring the results of our efforts as educators, advisors and mentors is essential to fulfilling

the Purpose Statement of Christian Life College. Real progress must be confirmed. Genuine

opportunities must be identified. Planning must be dynamic, to best employ the talents and

resources entrusted to us. Ongoing scrutiny of our outcomes is essential to this stewardship

commitment to God, to our students and to our supporters.

This evaluation is optimized by using the Christian Life College Purpose Statement as the frame

of reference:

The purpose of Christian Life College is to glorify God through equipping the local

church to fulfill its divine commission. Christian Life College equips the local church by

educating individuals who have the call of God on their lives for ministry. Ministry

preparation is provided in a Biblically-based, Spirit-filled environment, developing men

and women to lead the Pentecostal/Charismatic church in the world (Academic Catalog).

Through this lens, a comprehensive, methodical and ongoing assessment of the institution is

formulated and executed.

The results of attending and completing the educational and spiritual development programs of

Christian Life College constitute the most valuable outcomes of our efforts. Students undergo

change as a consequence of their experiences at CLC. The college earnestly intends to move the

Kingdom of God forward through these students and through the impact they are making and

will make in their families, in their ministries, and in their communities. Effective local

churches led and served by well-prepared, Spirit-filled individuals will change the world.

Forgiveness, redemption, healing, spiritual liberation, interpersonal reconciliation, dynamic

empowerment and societal transformation flow from God through the local assemblies and para-

church organizations served by these dedicated men and women.

Given the immense importance of the College Purpose Statement, the performance of every

person of the college must be evaluated by means of the Assessment Plan: administration,

students, faculty, support staff, board members. Every part of the college falls within the scope

of this assessment: course curricula, library and learning resources, financial resources, physical

plant, student housing. Every activity of the college is subject to this assessment: board

meetings, teaching in the classrooms, advising students, recruiting new students, retaining

existing students, developing faculty members, serving library patrons, reviewing the curricula,

reaching and relating to alumni, raising funds, exercising capital stewardship, planning for the

future. In every analysis, the guiding principle is, “How is the Purpose Statement of Christian

Life College being fulfilled?”

ASSESSMENT PLAN

The Responsibility for Evaluating Outcomes

The Assessment Committee is presently composed of the President, Academic Dean, Director of

Finances and Registrar, with the Director of Library Services as chair. This committee has the

ultimate responsibility for assessing reports and information related to the ongoing fulfillment of

the Purpose Statement. This committee reviews all data provided by the various departments of

the college, formulates recommendations for future operation and presents those

recommendations to the college board and to the faculty. In consultation with the board and

with the faculty, the President then implements appropriate plans of action. The Assessment

Committee meets a minimum of twice annually for this purpose at the conclusion of the fall and

spring terms, in addition to other times that the chair calls meetings.

including the fundraising, endowment, student housing, computer network, and the

3. To develop students equipped to serve the church in leadership capacities. This

objective is identifiable by:

c. Personal vision and mission for ministry in an attitude of humility and grace

Assessing the attainment of these objectives takes place in three key areas.

Traditional Academic Appraisal

Each student must complete the courses required for his/her chosen program. Employing the

appropriate criteria and instruments, objectives 2a –2e are the foci of instructors.

Spiritual Formation Opportunities

Each student has a faculty advisor, and meets with that advisor individually and with other

advisees on a regular basis. Each student present for classes on chapel service days is required

to attend chapel services. Various other opportunities for spiritual formation occur regularly.

Employing the appropriate criteria and instruments, objectives 1a-1c and 3a are the foci of

advisors and chapel service supervisors.

Field-Based Ministry Experiences and Internships

Christian Life College 18
