• Germany declares war on Russia• Germany was backing up Austria which led to
them declaring war on Russia.
August 3 1914• Germany declared
war on France• Schleiffen Plan was to
invade France if Russia attacked Germany. General Von Schleiffen came up with plan
• British secretary told them to get out of Belgium because Belgium was neutral.
August 4 1914
• British declares war– Cause Germany did not listen and did not get out
of Belgium
August 1914
• Battle of Tannenberg – Germany had good plan because was able to
surround Russian army.– Heavy defeat for Russian army but also 13,000
soldiers were killed from Germany.
December 1914
• First Zeppelin appeared over the English Coast– Major advancement very deadly weapon.– Metal air balloon named after the guy who
invented it Ferdinand von Zeppelin.
May 23 1915
• Italy enters the war.– Side with te Allies.
April 6 1917
• USA enters the war.
• Declares war on Germany
• Sinking of a merchant boat holding U.S. citizens sends U.S. into a war
December 1917
• Armistice signed with Russia and Germany.– Harsh conditions though.• Russia had to surrender certain places such as Poland
and Ukraine.• Stop propaganda to Germany• Pay 300 million roupes for Russian prisoner.

• Allies pushed Germany back beyond Hindenburg line.

• Kaiser Wilhelm the second was abdicated.
