*Affirmation of Faith (Confession of 1967 & Brief Statement of Faith) (Ushers gather in the narthex at this time.)

The church confesses its faith when it bears a present witness to God’s grace in Jesus Christ. The life, death, resurrection, and promised coming of Jesus Christ has set the pattern for the church’s mission.

The church follows this pattern in the form of its life and in the method of its action. So to live and serve is to confess Christ as the Lord. With believers in every time and place, we rejoice that nothing in life or in death can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

A special welcome is extended to all who are visiting with us this morning. We hope that your worship experience will be meaningful and enjoyable. If you are interested in learning more about First Presbyterian Church or becoming a member of this congregation, please speak with Pastor Lisa Ruth, the Church Office or any Elder.

A BIG thank you to all the volunteers who taught Children's Sunday School this Fall. We are now seeking people to sign up for next year's classes which begin February 3, 2019! Let's show our kids how special they are to us!

Thoughts on Giving: “And then they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.” MARK 13:26 We will all have that day when we are standing before God and our life is played out like a movie. When this happens and God asks each of us, “What have you done with the gifts that I have given you?” How will you respond? Stewardship Prayer: That we continue to develop and nurture our gifts and give back with increase. Bountiful Giving Sundays – the last Sunday of each month! Next Sunday is a Bountiful Giving Sunday! Offerings of sustaining food will be placed in the front of the sanctuary.

HOLIDAY COOKIE WALK & BOOK SALE

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 1ST 9 - 2

FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH NEW NARTHEX AND HALLWAY

What is a “Cookie Walk”? It is a bakery in the church! Plates of homemade cookies - donated by First Pres bakers - are displayed on tables. Shoppers are given a container which is filled

with their choices. Payment is by the pound - just like a “real” bakery! There will also be plates already filled for those who can’t choose.

SO…… when you are called and asked to bake some cookies…...please say YES. We would like at least 6 dozen from each baker. All cookies need to be at the church on Friday or by 8AM

on Saturday. Books may be dropped off starting Nov. 1.

Thank you for your support of this fundraiser.

The Annual Community Thanksgiving Day Dinner, will take place on November 22nd, 2018 from Noon until 3:00 pm at the Delhi Fire Hall. This event is sponsored by the Congregations of the Delhi Clergy Association and is hosted this year by The United Ministry.

Delivery is available to shut-ins only with advance notice to Deb Kearney, (746-2191). Food donations as well as volunteers are needed. All food items should be brought to the Delhi Fire Hall from 3pm-7pm on Wednesday, November 21st. Sign-up sheets are found throughout the church or you may contact the church office.

Please help our Care package for college student collection by donating snacks to be sent off to students during finals week at college. We are collecting granola bars, cup of soup, gum, candy, fruit, popcorn and homemade cookies and cash donations to offset the cost of postage. We will gather to assemble the boxes on November 27, 2018 at 6:30 PM. Please let the office know the names and addresses of college students that you would like to receive a care package. Your generosity is appreciated.

The Annual Ecumenical Community Thanksgiving Service sponsored by the Delhi Area Clergy Association will be held this afternoon, Sunday, November 18th at 4:00 pm at the Delhi Alliance Fellowship. Poinsettia orders are due in the office no later than December 9th. Wreath orders are due in the office by December 14th.

Thought for today: “Vegetables are a must on a diet. I suggest carrot cake, zucchini bread and pumpkin pie.” —Jim Davis
