PRAYER OF INVOCATION
You, O God, are supreme and holy.
You create our world and give us life.
Your purpose reaches through everything we do.
You have always been with us.
You are God.
You, O God, are infinitely generous,
good beyond measure.
You came to us before we came to you.
You have revealed and proved your love for us
in Jesus Christ, who lived and died and rose again.
You are with us now.
You are God.
You, O God, are Holy Spirit.
You empower us to be your gospel in the world.
You reconcile and heal; you overcome death.
You are God.
We worship you and offer this prayer… New Zealand Prayer Book
*THE LORD'S PRAYER (trespasses) Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on
earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we
forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory forever. Amen.
*GLORIA PATRI: Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is
now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen

ANTHEM: “From the End of the Earth”
Alan Hovhaness (1911-2000)
Hear my cry, O God;
From the end of the earth will l cry unto Thee,
When my heart is overwhelmed:
Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
For Thou hast been a shelter for me,
And a strong tower from the enemy.
I will trust in the covert of Thy wings.
Alleluia. Psalm 61: from. 1-4

OFFERTORY SENTENCE
OFFERTORY ANTHEM: “Jesus, Lover of My Soul”
Words by Charles Wesley, 1740
Music by Alan Hovhaness (1911-2000)
Paul Knox, baritone
Jesus, lover of my soul, Other refuge have I none,
Let me to Thy bosom fly, Hangs my helpless soul on Thee;
While the nearer waters roll, Leave, oh leave me not alone,
Hide me, oh my Savior, hide, Still support and comfort me:
Till the storm of life is past; All my trust on Thee is stayed,
Safe into the haven guide, All my help from Thee I bring;
Oh receive my soul at last, Cover my defenseless head
With the shadow of Thy wing.
*DOXOLOGY: Praise God from whom all blessings flow, Praise God all creatures here below, Praise God
above ye heavenly host, Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
*HYMN: “Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah” PH #93
SERVICE OF HOLY COMMUNION
Invitation to Communion
When Jesus, the Risen Savior, was at the table with two of the disciples,
he took the bread and broke it and gave it to them. Their eyes were
opened, and they recognized the risen Christ in the breaking of that
bread.
In company with all believers in every time, and beyond time,
we come to this table to know the risen Christ
in the breaking of the bread.
Institution
Gracious God, we ask you to bless this bread and this cup and all of us
with the outpouring of your Holy Spirit. Through this meal, make us the
body of Christ, the church, your servant people, that we may be salt, and
light, and leaven for the furtherance of your will in the world.
Amen. Come, Holy Spirit!
Distribution of Elements
Prayer
Holy God, our loving Creator, as close to us as breathing and
distant as the farthest star, we thank you for your constant love for all
you have made. We thank you for the presence of Jesus Christ, the
refreshment of this simple meal. We thank you for all that sustains life,
for all people of faith in every generation who have given themselves to
your will, and especially for Jesus Christ, whom you have sent from
your own being as our Savior. Amen.
