HAVE YOU EVER…BEEN TO A DAIRY FARM TOUR?
It’s an Agro tour place just 159 kilometers from Bangkok, where you can get a feel of farm life in the largest standard dairy cattle farm through seeing the real farm life and having hands on experience with the help of tour guides.
Fifty years ago, Chokchai
Bulakul wanted to work in animal
husbandry. This led him to modify a
forest area in Pak Chong in the
Nakhon Ratchasima province. He
started with mixed farming in a 250
rai area and became a pioneer of beef
cattle farming in Thailand, but when
he tried to import and develop cattle,
he faced problems in production and
transportation costs. So he shifted
from the beef business to the dairy
business, which proved more
profitable.
Chokchai Farm came
to a turning point when Mr.
Chok Bulakul, the eldest son
of Mr. Chokchai Bulakul,
returned from the USA with
a bachelor’s degree and 3
certificates from Vermont
Technical College in the
fields of Animal Science,
Dairy Herd Management
Program and Agro-industry
and Business.
He has always
expected that he might be
an eager executive with a
bright future and will be
happy with one of the
biggest dairy farms in
Asia, where his father had
pioneered. But his path
was not strewn with roses
like everyone had
expected. Nobody had
anticipated that he must
start a business with the
first fund that was in debt
to the bank.
Chok Bulakul had to first sell shares of his business because
of Thailand’s economic crisis. He then had to cut sales of his
milk factory business in the name "Chokchai Milk"
and left only his bovines and the farm as a memorial
of his great management predecessor.
However, he proved to
everyone that he could be
successful. He turned the
business from having a
negative to a positive net
profit of more than a
billion baht. Currently,
Chokchai farm is the
largest dairy farm in
Southeast Asia (area of
20,000 rai with 5000
cows). Chokchai Farm now
has over 1200 employees
and annual revenue of 2
trillion baht.
In addition to the
number of people visiting,
Chokchai Farm has now
changed a lot from 10
years ago and people flock
to the farm on their
holidays. The farm
receives about 300,000 tourists a year.
Chokchai Farm has
activities such as horse riding and a
zoo where you can feed farm
animals. Chokchai also has trees in
its area that are larger than other
trees you normally see in Thailand
because 10 years ago, Khun Chok
brought 100 people to help plant a
tree on the farm. More trees have
since been planted in order to help
the environment and society.
Chokchai Farm serves as a perfect
example of management
philosophy by including
communication with simple
techniques and actual practice.
Picture agriculture in Chokchai Farm, it is what
attracts most tourists because they will not see a similar
farm in Thailand. The difference with Chokchai Farm
is the selling point that became a popular source of
Chokchai Farm Agro-Tourism, which can see by the
number of cars parked outside the farm. People come
here because of the atmosphere. We have a beautiful
environment with horses, cattle and farm animals; even
von grass and cattle pens still look beautiful and suit
with the grass.
The view from Khun Chok in his business is if we know what customers have imagined in their mind we must then respond to their needs, so farmers have to be a Modeling Agency as well. This means teaching people how to raise cattle and know how to select beautiful dairy cattle to be modeled at the stall. It is not just cows, horses and farm animals; the same rule applies to the employees too. "A small thing that we provide to staff is making everyone feel that they want to be beautiful. It is encouraging to them to tell them to stand up for work."
Agricultural business for Thai people is often
seen as old-fashioned. Indeed, Chokchai Farm did not
succeed as a pure agricultural business, but success
came mostly from the people accepting in terms of
knowledge used to develop the farm into a tourist
attraction. Modulation is a philosophy of doing business
with Chokchai Farm as a part of society. Chokchai Farm
is an organization that simply allows employees to use
their imaginations. Everyone agrees that in order to
create agricultural wealth from a single cow you must
be a person who breeds and a high threshold for
endurance. Thai businessmen mainly focus in terms of
offensive line as a primary good, they are not prepared
to stick around when the business takes a negative turn,
so it causes many businesses to close.
As a leader, one must
learn to look from the angle
of the employees you hire.
On the other hand, we must do the duty the leader
gives to you, but Khun Chok understands that
people need to be inspired to work. The link
between CEO and staff is like a strategy to create a
sense of joint ownership. All the success he claims
has to include his subordinates in the successful
image too. When this leader gives trust, employees
in small organizations are ready fully commit their
hearts to the business; not opposed to efforts to take
care of business like it is a business of their own.

Umm…Milk! Ice Cream Workshop
You can choose one from five flavors which are chocolate, coffee, strawberry, blueberry, cookies and cream. This time we're doing blueberry flavor.
First step
Teacher will explain overall process about how to make an ice cream.
Second step
Preparing all ingredients and start making ice-cream by mixing milk and cream together.
Third step
Start putting and mixing syrup.
Fourth step
Putting blueberry for 2-3 tablespoons into the bowl andmixing them together.
Fifth step
For sweet lovers, you might put more syrup because after the churning step, sweetness will be decreased.
Sixth step
Come to the most important step, pouring all ingredients that have been prepared into the churn.
Seventh step
Wait for 13 minutes. If taking more than 13 minute ice cream will be too freezing and can’t be taken out of the churn.
Yeah! Now we can pour the ice-cream out of the churn.
Eighth step
Ninth step
During the ice-cream flows out of the churn, let’s put more blueberries and mix it together with the ice-cream.
At the last step, we must make it quickly. To scoop ice-cream in a bowl within 5 minutes, otherwise, ice-cream will melt.
Finally, we got an ice-cream that we made. After tasted the ice-cream, the only word that we can say is umm delicious. This is really match with their slogan “umm…milk”.
