Aside from addressing access issues, the Indigenous Peoples Education Program primarily seeks to support IPs right to culturally-rooted education in a manner that promotes self-determination Field offices and schools are being capacitated to work with IP communities in providing culture-based education IP enrolment as a percentage of total enrolment has increased from 4.4% in SY 2009 to 5.7% in SY 2013. There are also 49 community/CSO-run schools for IPs given government recognition/permit to operate. We also have 469 teachers and school heads trained on IPEd In 2015, we will start providing direct support to IP community/CSO-run schools to cover 1,600 IP learners; to be scaled-up in succeeding years
