1 Cheshire Border BORDERLINES July and August 2014 C OMMISSIONER S CORNER BY C LAIRE W ORTH June has been a busy month… the Strawberry Fair at Egerton was a lovely evening, thank you to everyone who supported the evening, ran stalls or helped with the refreshments. We helped once again at the Cheshire Show, manning the information points and our own marquee with Cheshire Forest. Our yellow ‘I was a Brownie, were you?’ t-shirts that we had printed for the show certainly attracted lots of attention and we captured some lovely memories as people reminisced about their time as a Brownie. And finally our Star Quest event was a very special weekend, what a fantastic time the Brownies had! Our guests which included the Chief Guide and High Sheriff of Cheshire were all delighted to join us and thank you letters have been received from both congratulating everyone on an excellent event. Visiting each of the zones and talking to the girls as we showed our guests around was a special privilege and an opportunity to proudly show how our girls are still having adventure and fun 100 years on. Thank you to everyone involved you made it happen! Mentors can you help your new Leader complete her file and send it in at the end of this term? Our next LQ support Get-together will be held at New life Church, Congleton on Thursday 25 September when there will be a special opportunity for extra support for new Mentors. If you feel you might be able to help a new Leader with the Leadership Qualification but are not sure what it would entail, please do come on the 25th and find out. The County has a superb group of very good Mentors, but we do need more and some Districts do find their Mentors sometimes have almost too many new Leaders to support. Where mentoring is concerned - the more the merrier! If you would like to book your place, or just want a chat about the LQ, please do contact Jo Pierpoint at [email protected] . We look forward to lots of bookings, and wish everyone a lovely summer break. TREFOIL STROLLERS The Strollers will meet on Monday 7 July at Biddulph Grange Country Park ST8 7TZ at 10.30 am just a little further up the road on the right past the entrance to Biddulph Grange National Trust. Lunch will be at The Talbot pub ST8 7RY at 1 p.m. All Trefoilers and friends are welcome to join us for a walk /lunch. We do not meet in August so the next walk will be Monday 8 September. Further details will be on the County website shortly and an email will go out to regular walkers. Alternatively contact Tricia 01625 612865. Over the past 2 months we have searched for Scarecrows in Bollington as part of the Festival with little success and enjoyed exploring the wilds of Plumley where the footpaths over the fields were like corrugated iron! However the lunch at the end of each walk always made up for everything!
