The single valence electron in the outermost occupied shell
becomes furtheraway from the nucleus
Hence, the attraction between the nucleus and the valenceelectron becomes weaker
Therefore, it is easier for the atom to donatethe single valenceelectron to achieve the stable electron arrangement.
