SAVOURWe’re well known for our local flavours. From cheese to cider, Gloucestershire has a great food culture. And there’s plenty to explore, from street food and breweries to award-winning farmers’ markets and cuisine from all corners of the globe.
PLAYGloucestershire is a place for adventure junkies. Ski the longest dry slope in the country, explore ancient forests on zip wires or conquer our famous hills on a mountain bike. You can surf the Severn bore, skate one of the largest and most unique indoor skate parks in the world or try anything from angling to archery at Cotswold Water Park.

CHILL With the best of urban and rural lifestyles, living here is easy. Green spaces, great bars, cafés and leisure hubs offer plenty of favourite spots for kicking back and meeting friends.
DISCOVERCelebrate tradition on land, in water and from the top of some very steep hills. Whether it’s the thrill of chasing cheese (yes, cheese!), taking a shine to shin-kicking or playing football in a river, Gloucestershire’s ancient customs are still attracting crowds in the 21st century.
EMBRACEGloucestershire is alive with an eclectic mix of events, with over 45 music, arts, science, literature, food and sports festivals every year – that’s almost one every week! Many of our students can be found working behind the scenes, too. The Students’ Union Summer Ball is the highlight of the social calendar. Every year thousands of students are entertained by DJs and acts such as Professor Green, Jess Glynne and Example.

PARTYFrom the loud and proud to the quiet and traditional, a huge variety of pubs, bars and nightclubs can be found all over the county. Indie and student nights, cocktail bars and a tiki club are just some of the venues bringing the streets alive at night, along with a thriving live music scene, theatres and concert halls.
Gloucestershire All Golds rugby league team
FOLLOWA long-standing and proud sporting culture means there’s world-class horse racing, premiership rugby, football and county cricket on your doorstep. The university’s own sports clubs compete fiercely in everything from American football to weightlifting and – thanks to the All Golds – we’re the only university with a professional rugby league team.

THRIVEAs a hub for global business and entrepreneurs, Gloucestershire is a great place to make your mark. With inspiring international brands such as Superdry and GE Aviation choosing to base themselves here, it’s no wonder so many of our students make it their home after graduation.
