  • EX 315 And in cutting of stones, to set them, and in carving of timber, to work in all manner of workmanship. 6 And I, behold, I have given with him Aholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan: and in the hearts of all that are wise hearted I have put wisdom, that they may make all that I have commanded thee; 7 The tabernacle of the congregation, and the ark of the testimony, and the mercy seat that is thereupon, and all the furniture of the tabernacle,

  • EX 318 And the table and his furniture, and the pure candlestick with all his furniture, and the altar of incense, 9 And the altar of burnt offering with all his furniture, and the laver and his foot, 10 And the cloths of service, and the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments of his sons, to minister in the priest's office,

  • EX 3111 And the anointing oil, and sweet incense for the holy place: according to all that I have commanded thee shall they do. 12 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 13 Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you.

  • EX 3114 Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people. 15 Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.

  • EX 3116 Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant. 17 It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed. 18 And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.END

  • 1 Kings 18:1-39KJV 1 Kings 18:1 And it came to pass after many days, that the word of the LORD came to Elijah in the third year, saying, Go, shew thyself unto Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth. 2 And Elijah went to shew himself unto Ahab. And there was a sore famine in Samaria. 3 And Ahab called Obadiah, which was the governor of his house. (Now Obadiah feared the LORD greatly: 4 For it was so, when Jezebel cut off the prophets of the LORD, that Obadiah took an hundred prophets, and hid them by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water.)

  • 1 Kings 18:1-395 And Ahab said unto Obadiah, Go into the land, unto all fountains of water, and unto all brooks: peradventure we may find grass to save the horses and mules alive, that we lose not all the beasts. 6 So they divided the land between them to pass throughout it: Ahab went one way by himself, and Obadiah went another way by himself. 7 And as Obadiah was in the way, behold, Elijah met him: and he knew him, and fell on his face, and said, Art thou that my lord Elijah?

  • 1 Kings 18:1-398 And he answered him, I am: go, tell thy lord, Behold, Elijah is here. 9 And he said, What have I sinned, that thou wouldest deliver thy servant into the hand of Ahab, to slay me? 10 As the LORD thy God liveth, there is no nation or kingdom, whither my lord hath not sent to seek thee: and when they said, He is not there; he took an oath of the kingdom and nation, that they found thee not.

  • 1 Kings 18:1-3911 And now thou sayest, Go, tell thy lord, Behold, Elijah is here. 12 And it shall come to pass, as soon as I am gone from thee, that the Spirit of the LORD shall carry thee whither I know not; and so when I come and tell Ahab, and he cannot find thee, he shall slay me: but I thy servant fear the LORD from my youth.

  • 1 Kings 18:1-3913 Was it not told my lord what I did when Jezebel slew the prophets of the LORD, how I hid an hundred men of the LORD'S prophets by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water? 14 And now thou sayest, Go, tell thy lord, Behold, Elijah is here: and he shall slay me. 15 And Elijah said, As the LORD of hosts liveth, before whom I stand, I will surely shew myself unto him to day.END

  • Mark 13KJV Mark 13:1 And as he went out of the temple, one of his disciples saith unto him, Master, see what manner of stones and what buildings are here! 2 And Jesus answering said unto him, Seest thou these great buildings? there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. 3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives over against the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him privately,

  • Mark 134 Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when all these things shall be fulfilled? 5 And Jesus answering them began to say, Take heed lest any man deceive you: 6 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. 7 And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet.

  • Mark 138 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows. 9 But take heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver you up to councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: and ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them.

  • Mark 1310 And the gospel must first be published among all nations. 11 But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost.

  • Mark 1312 Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against their parents, and shall cause them to be put to death. 13 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

  • A man who smelled like a distillery, flopped on a subway seat next to a priest. The man's tie was stained, his face was plastered with red lipstick, and a half bottle of gin was sticking out of his torn coat pocket. He opened his newspaper and began reading. After a few minutes the disheveled drunk turned to the priest and asked, "Say, Father, what causes arthritis?" Todays Joke

  • The irritated priest barked at him, "It's caused by loose living, being with cheap, wicked women, too much alcohol and a contempt for your fellow man!" "Wow, I'll be darned...!" the drunk muttered, returning to his paper. The priest, thinking about what he had said, nudged the man and apologized. "I'm very sorry, I didn't mean to come on so strong. How long have you had arthritis?"

    Todays Joke

  • "I don't have it, Father, I was just reading here that the Pope does."Todays Joke

  • KJV Mark 13:1 And as he went out of the temple, one of his disciples saith unto him, Master, see what manner of stones and what buildings are here!We see something odd in this verse right off the top. Theres a mention of the type of stones that are used in the temple. The Rebbes ParshaRunning Commentary on Mark 13

  • Well theres a reason why it was mentioned. The type of stones that were used in the second temple for the major part of its construction was Herodian stone. The Rebbes ParshaRunning Commentary on Mark 13

  • Herodian stone is not a type of rock. The type of rock was Jerusalem stone taken from nearby quarries. Herodian stone was the type of cut of the stone. The Rebbes ParshaRunning Commentary on Mark 13

  • This is Herodian stone. It has a very particular cut to it.It very characteristic of the work that Herod had done and a constant reminder to the Jews who had built it.The Rebbes ParshaRunning Commentary on Mark 13

  • And Yeshua didnt have a whole lot of respect for the stones etc used in His Temple either. It was His Fathers house because it had remnants of the original layout, but it wasnt exactly His blueprints. The Rebbes ParshaRunning Commentary on Mark 13

  • Solomons Temple was made from G-ds blueprints but Herods Temple wasnt.Theres a principle hereThe Rebbes ParshaRunning Commentary on Mark 13

  • The blue prints to G-ds Holy Temple isnt given to the un-Saved.So all the hype you hear about the Temple Faithful, the group that says they have the blue prints for the third TempleThe Rebbes ParshaRunning Commentary on Mark 13

  • Those arent the blue prints that G-d will give us.The blue prints will be given to G-ds elect, the Messianic Jews. The Rebbes ParshaRunning Commentary on Mark 13

  • Not to a group of un-Saved Jews who dont believe in Yeshua. So, this statement of Yeshuas was directed against the non-Jewish architect, King Herod. This is the context of the Disciples question and Yeshuas answer coupled with the prophecy He was giving. The Rebbes ParshaRunning Commentary on Mark 13

  • So Yeshua said the Temple would be torn down2 And Jesus answering said unto him, Seest thou these great buildings? there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

The Rebbes ParshaRunning Commentary on Mark 13

  • But what about the Wailing Wall (Western Wall, Kotel)? That was not part of the temple.Thats only a retaining wall.

The Rebbes ParshaRunning Commentary on Mark 13

  • 3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives over against the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him privately,Some people get confused with this translation. Yeshua wasnt sitting against the Temple here. The Temple is NOT on the Mt of Olives. The Rebbes ParshaRunning Commentary on Mark 13

  • 4 "Tell us, when will this happen, and what sign will there be when all these things are about to come to an end?So since Yeshua is prophesying here, they ask Him to tell about the end of the world. The Rebbes ParshaRunning Commentary on Mark 13

  • 5 Jesus began to say to them, "See that no one deceives you. This is an Hebraism: Do not be deceived. That means listen carefullyThe Rebbes ParshaRunning Commentary on Mark 13

  • 6 Many will come in my name saying, 'I am he,' and they will deceive many. Two things are being said here. One is that people will come saying they are the Messiah and others will come speaking in His Name. And weve talked about this beforeThe Rebbes ParshaRunning Commentary on Mark 13

  • Speaking in ones name is a rabbinical term.If you were a Disciple and ordained by your Rabbi, you could then speak in that Rabbis name. This was very very common. In Rabbinical literature from that time you see it every few pages. The Rebbes ParshaRunning Commentary on Mark 13

  • So Yeshua was saying not only that people would come saying they were the Messiah but also that others would be quoting Him who did NOT have the authority to do so as they had NOT been ordained by Him with the leaning on of hands. The Rebbes ParshaRunning Commentary on Mark 13

  • 7 When you hear of wars and reports of wars do not be alarmed; such things must happen, but it will not yet be the end. This verse is often misinterpreted. Prophecy teachers today teach that when you hear about a whole bunch of wars, thats the End Days. The Rebbes ParshaRunning Commentary on Mark 13

  • They point out all of the wars going on in todays world and say thats proof that were near the end. However, that is NOT the proof. The Rebbes ParshaRunning Commentary on Mark 13

  • There have been worse wars in history then ANYTHING going on today.Starting with Nero and his persecution of Jews and ChristiansThe Rebbes ParshaRunning Commentary on Mark 13

  • Going to Hitlers WWII.If wars and rumors of wars was the signal, then the last days were during Hitlers Germany. The Rebbes ParshaRunning Commentary on Mark 13

  • But look at the next verse!!!8 Nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes from place to place and there will be famines. These are the beginnings of the labor pains.See!!! Thats what were experiencing today!!!

The Rebbes ParshaRunning Commentary on Mark 13

  • Sorry but thats been experienced since the beginning of the fall of man.Yeshua is saying here, dont be worried when you hear about all these wars and rumors of wars. Thats not the time to fret.

The Rebbes ParshaRunning Commentary on Mark 13

  • In this next verse, Yeshua says something here very very interesting and important for Messianics to understand9 "Watch out for yourselves. They will hand you over to the courts. You will be beaten in synagogues. You will be arraigned before governors and kings because of me, as a witness before them.

The Rebbes ParshaRunning Commentary on Mark 13

  • You may have heard me speak about this verse before, but its worth repeating.Youve heard me say many times that the sect of the Nazarenes was exactly that, a sect.

The Rebbes ParshaRunning Commentary on Mark 13

  • A sect of what?A sect of Judaism.A section of Judaism NOT a new religion called Christianity. Now note what Yeshua says here

The Rebbes ParshaRunning Commentary on Mark 13

  • You will be beaten in Synagogues.Jews dont beat Gentiles in their Synagogues. They dont grab Gentiles off the street and beat them for not obeying their rules.

The Rebbes ParshaRunning Commentary on Mark 13

  • So, no matter which way you interpret this it has a lot of meaning. If you interpret it in context, he was saying that in the last days, His Body will be connected to Judaism orThe Rebbes ParshaRunning Commentary on Mark 13

  • if you interpret it in that He was speaking to the people of that time, He was saying the People of The Way were not to be disconnected from Judaism.

The Rebbes ParshaRunning Commentary on Mark 13

  • Theres a lot in that verse and it proves that the faith in Yeshua HaMeshiach was intended to be a Jewish thing, NOT a separate religion called Christianity.Baruch HaShem, lets start the teaching.

The Rebbes ParshaRunning Commentary on Mark 13

  • Messianic Judaism 101Class 2By Rabbi Stanley

  • Review +So weve taken a look over the last few weeks at some important foundational information concerning the First Church.

  • Review +We found out that the word Church and New Testament didnt even exist in the First Century.

  • Review +We also discovered that the word Christian was something that was used as a derogatory term to denote Gentile Believers and was never used in describing Jewish Believers.Terminology is important

  • Review +The first Believers were all Jews and they were called the people of The Way and shortly after they were called the Sect of the Nazarenes (Notzreem).

  • Review +These Notzreem were not Christians but a sect of the Jews just as the Pharisees and the Sadducees were sects of Judaism.SECTION

  • Review +John The Immerser (Baptist) more then likely had his own sect as well. We do know he had his own disciples who followed him even after his (John the Immerser) encounter with Yeshua.John 129The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! 35The next day John was there again with two of his disciples. 36When he saw Jesus passing by, he said, "Look, the Lamb of God!"

  • Review +We read that St. Peter told us to praise G-d if we were persecuted as Christians but that doesnt mean that Messianic Jews should call themselves Christians.

  • Review +We should call ourselves Jews or Messianic Jews or Notzreem or People of The Way or whatever YOU decide to call yourself, not what critics have labeled you as.Is Christian a

  • Review +So obviously, Yeshua hadnt come to start a new religion called Christianity. He came to fulfill Judaism and not abolish it.(abolish means to get rid of)

  • Review +The First Church then fled to Pella (after the Bar Kokhba War) and Gentiles then ruled the Church in Jerusalem.(note: all of the First Church kept all the Peculiar Jewish Laws.)

  • Review +The Gentile Church obviously then began to adopt some pagan theology and the two groups, the Notzreem and the Church, began to take different paths. We saw this as early as 310 AD.

  • Review +St Epiphanius made it clear that the Notzreem were NOT in accord with the established Gentile Christian Church.

  • Review +We also went over that if you are keeping (or trying your best to keep) the covenantal laws, then you are a Jew!

  • Review +You are no longer then a Gentile and no one here should ever remind you that you ever were a Gentile you are reborn!

  • Review +Take the Jewish phrase reborn, translate it into Greek and it comes out Born Again. Born Again (reborn) was a popular phrase in First Century Judaism.

  • Review +Yeshua Himself used it, but there were other ways to use that phrase as well. (Mikva, one who had become the leader of his own School/Yeshiva

  • Review +Yeshua used it to mean that you had been cleansed of sin and you were a new man in Him.

  • Review +Who can tell me what advantage there is to being Jewish?

  • Review +Romans 3:11What advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision? 2Much in every way. chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God.

  • Review +Thats not what they say in most Churches. They say were all the same in every way.Theres no Jew or Greek in Christ Jesus. But they fail to understand this has to do with Salvation.

  • Review +That same passage also says that there is neither male or female, but have you noticed that after you got Saved, you were still either a man or a woman?

  • Review +Theres quite a few differences there.Different ministries between men and woman.Different rolesDifferent expectationsDifferent strengthsDifferent weaknessesNot the same are we?

  • Review +We also found that its probably not a good idea to call yourself a Jew if you are NOT one.

  • Review +Revelation 2:99 I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.

  • Review +There is no such thing as a Spiritual Jew or a Spiritual Irishman either your Irish or your not.Either youre a Jew or you are not.We do encourage Gentiles to keep covenant that doesnt make us Judaizers

  • Review +Judaizing is saying you cant be SAVED unless you keep the Peculiar Laws of the Jewish covenant with G-d.Its not Judaizing telling people to keep any or all of His Commandments. If I tell a Saved Gentile to not eat limbs off live animals am I Gentilizing?

  • Review +We also looked at the model of the Temple to see how people drew near to G-d.Those who did NOT keep covenant were the furthest from the Holy of Holies where G-d resided.

  • Review +I know this also goes against the teachings of the Church. They say, theres nothing we can do to earn G-ds approval

  • Review +II Timothy 2:15Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (dissecting) the word of truth.

  • Review +Easy to be a Messianic if youre a woman.Harder for a man.Take it step by step, dont overwhelm yourself.Im still finding and applying new laws to my life its a journey not a walk off the plank

  • Review +Thats not an excuse to move so slowly on something that youre actually not really moving.

  • Review +You dont wanna be this guy

Its between you and G-d, but remember you cant fool Him.

  • Review +Like Ive said before,Im not a Kippa CopOr the Tallit Task ForceOr Kosher ControlOr the Challah Hangman.

  • Review +No one can presume to know where another is at on their journey. Not all of this is about sin, so no one else should interfere with your decisions.

  • Review +If you do read from our Parsha we do require tsit tsits to be worn, but reading is voluntary.

  • Review +In a Church, if I sacrifice a lot for G-d (ie. fasting) will a Pastor tell me that that causes me to grow closer to G-d?Yes, he will say that.

  • Review +Im saying if you sacrifice by keeping the peculiar laws of G-ds Chosen people, you will also get closer to G-d and you will see more power in your walk with Him.

  • Review +Oh Ill have to give up pork and have to quit eating shellfishWe need to get out of the half to mentality and get into the want to mentality.Have to is Greek, want to is Jewish

  • This ClassIn this class we will study more history of the First Church so we can better understand the Modern Messianic Movement.

  • This ClassWell learn more about how the sect of the Nazarenes were still considered to be Jews even though they were persecuted by other Jews.

  • This ClassThen were gonna meet a couple of the many Jewish miracle workers of the First Century and close with one of the major differences between us and todays Church.

  • Dr. Ron MoseleyFirst, lets meet Dr. Ron MoseleyStudied at Princeton Theological Seminary and Oxford University. He has a Masters in Jewish Studies, a PHD in Second Temple History, a Dr of Phil. in Religion and Society and a Dr of Literature in Research.

  • Dr. Ron MoseleyHe spent 12 summers in Israel and studied at the American Institute of Holy Land Studies on HarZion. He is both a Fellow and a Scholar at the Oxford Society of Scholars having written over 80 courses for Bible Colleges in over 18 countries.

  • Many SectsAs Ive mentioned before there were many sects of Judaism.According to Dr. Ron Moseley there were nearly 30 of them.

  • Many SectsThe Talmud says that 24 of these were at one time or another considered to be outside of the mainstream of Judaism.

  • Many SectsBesides the more well known sects of the Pharisees and Sadducees and the Essenes were others such as the Ebionites, Boethusians Genistae and the Meristae (The Dividers).

  • Many SectsSt. Justin Martyr lists many of these as wellAll different then each other but still Jewish. The Nazarenes were also a Jewish sect.

  • Many SectsIf it hadnt have been for the Bar Khoba revolt in 132 AD wed all still be worshipping together in the Synagogues with our Jewish brethren. That being said

  • Many Sectsthe various smaller sects would often be persecuted by the larger more orthodox sects. While at the same time still considering them to be Jewish.

  • Many SectsSo its really no surprise that Shaul (Paul) would go out and persecute the Notzreem.

  • Many SectsYeshua Himself even addresses this in Mathew 10:1717"Be on your guard against men; they will hand you over to the local councils and flog you in their synagogues.

  • Many SectsNotice it says, in their synagogues.Guess what? Jews didnt flog non Jews. They didnt go out and kidnap non Jews for breaking Commandments and haul them into their synagogues.

  • Many SectsMatter of fact, the Mishna says that non-Jews are not under the same Laws (and thus they could not be closer to G-d).If a Gentile converted they then became subject to the same Laws as the Jews.

  • Many SectsBut remember any gentile that converted was no longer to be called a Gentile, that was forbidden.

  • Miracle WorkersNow, I know that most Churches say that the First Church was very different because Yeshua performed miracles and no one else did in those days. But that is not true.

  • Miracle WorkersThere were many First Century miracle workers lets look at 2 of themHoni haMagaelHe lived in the First Century. He was a well known Jewish scholar

  • Miracle WorkersHe was famous for his ability to successfully pray for rain. On one occasion when G-d did not send rain well into the winter Honi drew a circle in the dust, stood inside it, and informed God that he would not move until it rained.

  • Miracle WorkersWhen it began to drizzle, Honi, in true Jewish style, told God that he was not satisfied and expected more rain! It then began to pour. He explained that he wanted a calm rain, at which point the rain calmed to a normal calm rain. After this incident he was given the nickname, Honi the Circle Drawer.

  • Miracle WorkersThis was before Yeshua was here.Honi was a well known scholar and pious man

  • Miracle WorkersHe was almost excommunicated by the High Jewish Court for the way he talked to G-d so irreverently (though we see hints of that with some other Biblical characters). However, the brother of the Queen excused him, saying that he was Honi and had a special relationship with God. Tomb of Honi the Circle Drawer

  • Miracle WorkersAnother Rabbi named Hanina BenDosa was also famous for his miracles. The son of Rabbi Gamaliel II (grandson of Pauls Rabbi) had become ill and Rabbi Gamaliel II sent a messenger to Rabbi Hanina.Tomb of Rabbi Gamaliel II

  • Miracle WorkersWhen Rabbi Hanina heard what had happened he went out and prayed. When he came back he told the messenger that the boy had been healed. The messenger had some doubt and he wrote down the exact time.Tomb of Hanina BenDosa

  • Miracle WorkersWhen he got back to Rabbi Gamaliel II he found that the boy was well and asked Rabbi Gamaliel II what time the healing had occurred. It was the exact same time as what he had noted down before.

  • Miracle WorkersIt was after Yeshuas time, by about a generation. But note that Rabbi Gamaliel II trusted Rabbi Hanina

  • Miracle WorkersAnd this Rabbi (Gamaliel II) had some very serious connections with the Messianic Movement and Yeshuas Disciples. His grandfather had saved many of the Disciples including Peter. (Acts 5:33)

  • Miracle WorkersHe was related to Rabbi Eliezar who was condemned for being a Believer in Yeshua. Also notice that Rabbi Akiva was killed for his participation in the Bar Khoba War.

  • Miracle WorkersA war where anyone who had joined that force had to declare Bar Kochba the Messiah. The Messianics wouldnt do that and they livedWhy was Rabbi Gamaliel II still alive after the Romans defeated them?

  • Miracle WorkersHe was the first person to lead the Sanhedrin as Nasi after the fall of the second temple. Makes you wonder if he too was a Believer. If he was a Believer and trusted Rabbi Haninas faith, its possible that Hanina was a Believer in Yeshua too.

  • Miracle WorkersIm not saying they all were. But the more you read about the ancient Rabbis, you start seeing more and more connections like these.

  • Miracle WorkersI know for sure that all the Jews werent the bad guys like the Church has taught for 2,000 years.Maybe the Church is also wrong about many of these Rabbis.

  • Miracle WorkersBack to the miracle workersSo there were Miracle workers in the First Century. But there were certain miracles they were never able to perform.

  • Miracle WorkersThey could cure a blind man but not one who was blind from birth. They could heal many diseases but not leprosy. They could even cast out demons, but not a mute demon.

  • Miracle WorkersYeshua however did all these things. This sheds light on Matt 11:4-6 when John the Immerser (incorrectly called John The Baptist) had his messengers ask Yeshua if He was The One to come

  • Miracle WorkersYeshua answeredThe blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me. Matt 11:4-6

  • Miracle WorkersHe probably answered more likeI cured the blind from birth, I cleansed the lepers and caused the mute to speak. That wouldve been a direct Messianic answer to John The Immersers question.

  • Are you the Messiah? While were on this passage of Scripture lets take a look at what the Sanhedrin's response wouldve been once they heard that someone was claiming to be the Messiah.

  • Are you the Messiah?By Law the Sanhedrin was to investigate the situation in two stages: The first stage was called the Stage of Observation."

  • Are you the Messiah?A delegation was formed to investigate only by way of observation. These delegates could come from a variety of towns and cities.

  • Are you the Messiah? This delegation was to observe what was being said, what was being done, and what was being taught. They were not permitted to ask any questions or raise any objections.

  • Are you the Messiah? After a period of observation, they were then to go to Jerusalem, report to the Sanhedrin and give a verdict

  • Are you the Messiah?was the movement significant, or was the movement insignificant? If the movement was decreed to be insignificant, the matter would be dropped like an unkosher hotdog.

  • Are you the Messiah? But if the movement was declared to be significant, there would, then, be a second stage of investigation called the Stage of Interrogation."

  • Are you the Messiah? In this stage, they would interrogate the individual or members of the movement. This time, they would ask questions and raise objections to discover whether the claims should be accepted or rejected.

  • Are you the Messiah? We see this play out exactly in the Brit Hadasha in Luke 5Vs 1717. Pharisees and teachers of the law, who had come from every village of Galilee and from Judea and Jerusalem.18Some men came carrying a paralytic on a mat and tried to take him into the house to lay him before Jesus. 19When they could not find a way to do this because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on his mat through the tiles into the middle of the crowd, right in front of Jesus. 21. And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying (this word is not in the Greek), Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone? But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said unto them, What reason ye in your hearts? Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk?

  • Are you the Messiah?First so many delegates came out that the local people couldnt even get the paralyzed man into see Yeshua.

  • Are you the Messiah? Then we see He read their thoughts and their hearts because the delegates werent saying anything to Him at that point. They were in the Stage of Observation

  • Are you the Messiah? Then, later on in Scripture they come back and interrogate Him as per Jewish Law.Thats what this passage is about!See if we understand the times, the culture and the Laws of First Century Judaism, things start to become clear.

  • We are not The ChurchIm sorry to say, but most of todays Church is very unclear.Theyre foggy because theyve left the Jews out of the very Jewish book called the Bible.

  • We are not The ChurchMessianic Judaism is not another Church.Theres lots of Churches out there, thats not what we are here. Were a Messianic Synagogue and theres only one of these in this valley so far.

  • We are not The ChurchMessianic Judaism believes that Yeshua is the Messiah but we dont accept any paganism in our walk of faith. We teach that the Law is still in effect and that if we break it, we fall under the curse of sin

  • We are not The ChurchGalatians 3:10 (Dr. David Stern Translation)10 For everyone who depends on legalistic observance of Torah commands lives under a curse, since it is written, "Cursed is everyone who does not keep on doing everything written in the Scroll of the Torah."

  • We are not The ChurchWe see it like the Apostle Paul.He said the Law is holy just and good not done away with as the Church teaches.Paul even said he loved the Law.The Church says they also love the Law but they then ignore it.

  • We are not The ChurchYou cant ignore something you love!

  • The End

  • The End
