A Note From the Principal…

First Week Fun!

Students in Mr. Wilcox’s classroom were set to the task of creating a

paper cup tower during the first week of school. Each team was given 100

cups, and their goal was to think like Engineers and build as many “layers” as

possible within the given time. “After 4 years of this activity at my previous

school, the record was 25 layers, and three groups this year all managed 27

layers, two of which were within the time limit”, said Mr. Wilcox. One team

even had to remove ceiling tiles so they could continue building their tower

after running out of room on the desk. This group activity was just one of the

fun bonding exercises teachers planned in classrooms during the first week

to get students engaged in learning and prepared for the upcoming year!

I am wealthy with riches because I have the honor of working with

and learning from the most amazing people at Davison High School.

My experience thus far at DHS, has been simply extraordinary.

Everyday, I learn more about the incredible people at Davison. When

I was offered the position of Principal, I knew I was lucky, but, how

lucky, I had no idea at the time. We truly have an amazing team of

staff, students, parents, and

community members. I can not wait

to see what our future together will

bring. The sun is rising high on

good-ole Davison High!

Respectfully,

Ron Jacobs

Davison High school Principal

Sending a special shout

out to the students in the

LINKS program this year!

LINKS is a Peer to Peer

program designed to have

students support other

students in the areas of

academics and social

skills. The program was

started this year with help

from Davison teacher Mrs.

Kovatch and this

awesome group of

dedicated student

leaders. These students

are truly representing the

program's purpose and

Davison's motto of

“Putting Kids First”!

Care Plan” (EpiPen) or “Asthma Action

Plan” (Inhalers).

Parents and physicians must also fill

out an “Authorization to Administer

Medication” form to have on file in

the school office in order for the

student to self administer or for the

medication to be given by office

staff.

*Due to allergies: no latex balloons or

peanut products are permitted on

campus. Thank you for your

understanding.

INFO FOR DELAY DAY

WEDNESDAYS

(First delay day is September

18th, school begins at 9:30)

The reason for our delayed start on Wednesday

morning’s is two fold:

It gives staff at DHS a chance to meet and

work on important issues such as school

improvement, curriculum, etc.…

It provides time for students to get extra

help from their teachers, to make up

quizzes, tests and assignments.

Teachers are available at 8:30 am, NO PASS

IS NEEDED.

If a student needs to be dropped off prior

to 8:30 am they can wait inside by the gym

doors (west entrance).

Students must enter through the west

doors, the north doors will be locked until

9:00 am.

Students who ride the early bus to school

are not permitted to leave campus, this is

strictly prohibited.

Breakfast begins at 9:00 am.
