After serving 11 years as the CFO at Sandco Phyllis Whitehead will be retiring on Dec 31, 2017. We are sad to see her go, but wish her a happy retirement. She has been a key asset to Sandco as she has taken the company private, assisted in building a new facility, and has helped the company move to its new location. Phyllis’ hard work and dedication shows through her incredible work with the budget and finances throughout these transitions. She is always willing to help out in any capacity to contribute to the company’s’ success whether it be assembling parts, helping with accreditation and CARF, and not to mention our fun fundraisers. Phyllis’ compassionate heart shows through with all of the time she has spent with our staff, persons served, as well as serving on the Council of Developmental Disabilities for Sandusky County. In honor of her years of hard work and dedication the Sandco Board of Trustees has named the Sandco Board room the Phyllis Whitehead Executive Board Room. As she is making more memories with her family and grandchildren, Sandco will never forget the everlasting mark she has made on all of us. Welcome Laura LaGodney, CFO

It isn’t every financial executive who can seamlessly shift gears to help lead through chaos while privatizing non-profit providers of Developmental Disabilities, shift gears towards business performance, or lead a cross-disciplinary strategic initiative team towards integration. But this is a primary part of Laura LaGodney’s offering: she is differentiated by an uncommon complement of financial management expertise combined with strong business acumen, allowing her to view disability services in Ohio with a wide lens then narrow down to connect the dots, identify provider issues, take action, and drive results.

Laura was hired at Ability Works as Marketing, PR & Sales Coordinator in May of 2006. Sandco received a $7,278.00 grant from the Sandusky County Communities Foundation. The grant was used to purchase computers

for our Skills Development room, which individuals will be able to use to improve

their employment skills.

Sandco Fall Fun!

Sandco Industries hosted a Halloween Dance and costume

contest on October 31st.

We enjoyed spirit week in November with crazy sock day, crazy

hat day and OSU vs. U of M day.

In December we sported our ugly sweaters each Friday.

At Sandco Industries we are always seeking to expand work experience opportunities. This fall we accepted a Spacer – Control Bracket assembly from Revere Plastics. This is our first assembly from Revere. We are excited for this opportunity and are looking to add more assemblies from Revere in the near future.

Sandco Rocks is a community activity to get the residents of Sandusky County and surrounding areas out and about. Anyone can just get some paint, some rocks and some friends and get creative or inspirational! Once you have created your masterpiece, attach a tag to it to post in this Facebook group, say where you found it, and re-hide! This is a great activity for all ages!

A fun group of individuals that attend the Sandco Life Enrichment Center love our community. They love getting out and meeting all the great people. They also love showing off their art skills!

Some Pointers: • Post your pictures, stories or clues on our Sandco Rocks Facebook

page, and then hide new rocks or relocate rocks you find to a differ-ent spot for someone else to find.

• Hide all rocks outdoors - so they are easy to find. • Use paints that will withstand weather (such as acrylic) and use a

clear coat (such as mod podge or polyurethane spray) to seal it. • Try to add the FB group name on the back of the rock so people who

find them will know where to go - Sandco Rocks • Please be respectful to others properties. • Safety First - make sure you are placing them in places kids are able

to get to safely...we want it fun for everyone. • Have Fun! Explore! Have a paint party!

SANDCO ROCKS

Community Outings

The folks at Sandco Life Enrichment enjoy

many community outings and fun activities.

One fall favorite was a trip to Toledo Zoo for

Seniors day. They even got to pet a Sting Ray

in the touch tank.

They loved it!

Another favorite

was Monsoon

Lagoon. They

each were able to

feed many ani-

mals, but the best

was the Giraffe

pictured left.
