We welcome you to worship today!

☩ WE ARE THRILLED THAT YOU ARE HERE TODAY.

If you are visiting with us today, please take a moment and fill out the information sheet located on the

back of the pews, so we can welcome you properly. We also welcome any prayer requests, there is a

place to put this on the attendance forms as well. If you are looking for a church home, please speak

with Pastor Alvin or contact the church office at 843-722-8906.

☩ CHRIST BIDS WELCOME TO ALL BAPTIZED CHRISTIANS AT THIS SERVICE OF HOLY

COMMUNION.

Baptized children who commune should be assisted by an adult near them. Those who are unable to

partake of wheaten bread or wine are assured that the Church affirms our Lord’s presence in, with, and

under each element alone. All baptized Christians are encouraged to commune with us. It is the Lord’s

Table.

☩ THE WATER IN THE FONT

The water in the font reminds us of our baptism into Christ. You may dip your fingers into the water and

trace the cross upon your forehead to remember your baptism.

☩ RESTROOMS AND QUIET ROOM

These facilities are located in the Parish Building behind the sanctuary. For security reasons, the

building may be locked, but a key is in the narthex to unlock the building. The key is hanging by the

thermostat. [Directions to the restroom: exit the church, turn to the right, and go down the handicap

ramp toward the rear of the church. Go up the ramp, and enter the door to the left into the parish

building. As you enter, the Quiet Room/Nursery is to the left, and restrooms are to the right. Directional

signs are posted for the restrooms. A changing table is located in the women’s restroom.]

A: Let us confess our sin in the presence of God and of one another. C: Gracious God, have mercy on us. We confess that we have turned from you and given ourselves into the power of sin. *PRAYER OF THE DAY (Let us pray)

Almighty God, you wonderfully created the dignity of human nature and yet more wonderfully restored it. In your mercy, let us share the divine life of the one who came to share our humanity, Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

A: The Lord be with you. C: And also with you. Evan Parry

PSALM 47 To be read responsively Andy Brabazon

Clap your hands, all you people; shout to God with loud songs of joy. For the LORD, the Most High, is awesome, a great king over all the earth. He subdued people under us, and nations under our feet. He chose our heritage for us, the pride of Jacob whom he loves. God has gone up with a shout, the LORD with the sound of a trumpet. Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises. For God is the king of all the earth; sing praises with a psalm.[a] God is king over the nations; God sits on his holy throne. The princes of the people gather as the people of the God of Abraham. For the shields of the earth belong to God; he is highly exalted.

First Reading: Acts 3:12-19 Grace Jenkins The Lector says: A reading from Acts Peter addressed the people, “You Israelites, why do you wonder at this, or why do you stare at us, as though by our own power or piety we had made him walk? The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, the God of our ancestors has glorified his servant Jesus, whom you handed over and rejected in the presence of Pilate, though he had decided to release him. But you rejected the Holy and Righteous One and asked to have a murderer given to you, and you killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses. And by faith in his name, his name itself has made this man strong, whom you see and know; and the faith that is through Jesus has given him this perfect health in the presence of all of you. “And now, friends, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did also your rulers. In this way God fulfilled what he had foretold through all the prophets, that his Messiah would suffer. Repent therefore, and turn to God so that your sins may be wiped out.” The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

☩ WORD ☩

Holy and righteous God, you are the author of life, and you adopt us to be your children. Fill us with your words of life, that we may live as witnesses to the resurrection of your Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

The Holy Gospel according to St. Luke, the 24th chapter: Glory to you , O Lord.

*THE GOSPEL: St. Luke 24:36-48 Evan Parry

[Please be seated.]

Second Reading: 1 John 3:1-7 Evan Sweere Lector says: A reading from 1st John See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God; and that is what we are. The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God’s children now; what we will be has not yet been revealed. What we do know is this: when he is revealed, we will be like him, for we will see him as he is. And all who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure. Everyone who commits sin is guilty of lawlessness; sin is lawlessness. You know that he was revealed to take away sins, and in him there is no sin. No one who abides in him sins; no one who sins has either seen him or known him. Little children, let no one deceive you. Everyone who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

Jesus himself stood among [the disciples] and said to them, “Peace be with you.” They were startled and terrified, and thought that they were seeing a ghost. He said to them, “Why are you frightened, and why do doubts arise in your hearts? Look at my hands and my feet; see that it is I myself. Touch me and see; for a ghost does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have.” And when he had said this, he showed them his hands and his feet. While in their joy they were disbelieving and still wondering, he said to them, “Have you anything here to eat?” They gave him a piece of broiled fish, and he took it and ate in their presence. Then he said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you—that everything written about me in the law of Moses, the prophets, and the psalms must be fulfilled.” Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures, and he said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Messiah is to suffer and to rise from the dead on the third day, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins is to be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.”

The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, O Christ.

*GREAT THANKSGIVING The presiding minister greets the assembly and invites all present to give thanks.

It is indeed right, our duty and our joy, that we should at all times and in all places give thanks and praise to you, almighty and merciful God, for the glorious resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ, the true Paschal Lamb who gave himself to take away our sin, who in dying has destroyed death, and in rising has brought us to eternal life. And so, with Mary Magdalene and Peter and all the witnesses of the resurrection, with earth and sea and all their creatures, and with angels and archangels, cherubim and seraphim, we praise your name and join their unending

*WORDS OF INSTITUTION

Holy, mighty, and merciful Lord, heaven and earth are full of your glory. In great love you sent to us Jesus, your Son, who reached out to heal the sick and suffering, who preached good news to the poor, who, on the cross, opened his arms to all, and through his resurrection made salvation available to everyone.

In the night in which he was betrayed, our Lord Jesus took bread, and gave thanks; broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying: Take and eat; this is my body, given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.

Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave if for all to drink, saying: This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of me.

Remembering, therefore, his death, resurrection, and ascension, we await his coming in glory.

Pour out upon us the Spirit of your love, O Lord, and unite the wills of all who share this heavenly food, the

body and blood of Jesus Christ, our Lord; to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, be all honor and glory, now

and forever. Amen.

*THE LORD’S PRAYER Evan Parry

Lord, remember us in your kingdom and teach us to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us;

and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

[Please be seated]
