Discworld LegacyChapter 15

Empty Nest

Page 2: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

Welcome back to the Discworld Legacy, this should be the last chapter for the D generation. The first part will be narrated by Casanunda and then I'll take over when we move to university.

Page 3: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

When the boys left Dee became very withdrawn

Page 4: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

They'd always been close. When she was still a child she would follow them everywhere asking to dance or play. Without them she was lost.

Page 5: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

She spent all her time studying, wanting to be able to join them at university as soon as possible.

Page 6: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

Fortunately she was distracted from her moping by the new boy in her class.

Page 7: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

It was a great relief to see Dee smiling again

Page 8: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

so while I kept a careful eye on the pair I wasn't exactly unhappy to see my youngest daughter dating.

Page 9: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

But even teen love can't stop sims from aging and soon her school days came to an end and it was time for Dee to leave for university.

Page 10: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

Sadly her boyfriend won't be joining her there, putting her at the mercy of all those college boys, not something I wanted my daughter to be exposed to (I should know, I used to be one of them), but I couldn't keep her at home forever. At least she has four older brothers to protect her.

Page 11: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

And that's it, there's just me and Amber left in the house now, it's so quiet without the kids.

Page 12: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

But there are some advantages.

Page 13: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

There ends Casanunda's time as head of the family, he's my favourite of my heirs to date and while he's going to stick around for a while yet he's not going to be in charge any more.

It's now time for the university years, narrated by me because it's far too confusing to keep switching.

These are, of course, Dorfl and Dios as young adults, they've aged pretty well I think. (Yes Dorfl's kept the jumper, I just can't see him in anything else).

Page 14: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

As soon as the boys had finished settling in they were swarmed by the female dormies. Funnily enough Dios, the romance sim, kept things pretty tame (at first anyway) while Dorfl, the knowledge sim, was immediately hit upon.

Page 15: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

Tearing the boys away from the girls that surrounded them was not easy but they had to go get their term papers written so they could concentrate on other things for the rest of the semester.

Page 16: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

Other things such as joining the greek house, easy enough when you grew up with most of the member.

Page 17: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

Although I think Dios would have preferred it if they'd waited to tell him the good news (I did say he only kept it tame at first).

Page 18: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

While Dios was getting friendly with his fellow dormies Dorfl was looking for something more. Then he met Roxanne (aka Taube or fraulineTaube writer of the Vermachtnis Legacy). He instantly felt a deep connection between them and found he was very attracted to her.

Page 19: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

(So attracted he needed two thought bubbles to fully express himself)

Page 20: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

They were soon talking as if they had known each other all their lives.

Page 21: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

Not being a shy sim it didn't take long for Dorfl to confess his feelings

Page 22: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

As it happened Roxanne felt the same way they quickly moved from talking to kissing.

Page 23: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

It wasn't all soppy stuff though, Roxanne turned out to be a mean video games player and managed to top the high score table on the dorm's machine.

Page 24: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

(I just had to include this picture, I love the expression on their faces)

Page 25: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

By the end of the night Dorfl was pretty sure he'd found his soul mate and they said goodbye promising to see each other again soon.

Page 26: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

Soon it was time for the end of semester exams, which both boys passed easily of course, which means it's goodbye to the dorm.

Page 27: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

And hello to the rest of the family.

Page 28: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

To celebrate moving into the greek house Dorfl threw a toga party, inviting all their neighbours (the Time-Lords)

Page 29: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

and, of course, Roxanne.

Page 30: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

It was during this party that the couple professed their love for each other.

Page 31: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

And they weren't the only ones with romance on their minds.

Page 32: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

Druellae finally proposed to the woman who had been her girlfriend since they were teens, Viola's answer didn't particularly surprise anyone.

Page 33: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

All too soon (or not soon enough) it was time for Druellae and Viola to graduate.

Page 34: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

Drue threw a fantastic graduation party for the pair

Page 35: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

and then it was time to move back to the Disc and start the family Viola longed for.

Page 36: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

Viola got her family - four kids with another two on the way. The kids are (left to right) Olivia, Viola, Sebastian and Orsino. Druellae is currently pregnant again, this time with natural twins.

Page 37: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

Not long after Druellae's graduation Dee finally made it to university, like the rest of her siblings she spent her first semester living in a dorm.

Page 38: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

Where she was an instant hit with the men.

Page 39: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

Casanunda was right to be worried about his daughter

Page 40: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

Although really she was the one making most of the moves.

Page 41: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

She even got her many boyfriends to do all of her assignments and write her term paper.

Page 42: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

While she spent her time elsewhere.

Page 43: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

Getting into the Greek house was a piece of cake.

Page 44: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

And Dee's brothers were very happy to welcome her into the house at the beginning of the next semester.

Page 45: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

During one of the house's regular toga parties Dee met Dragon Time-Lord (a romance sim) and was instantly smitten, she also met his older brother Dalek (in the background), a fellow pleasure sim, and was pretty taken with him too.

Page 46: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

Dee and Dragon spent most of the party talking and flirting.

Page 47: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

It seemed that the romance was rubbing of on other party guests, Donna Time-Lord spontaneously flirted with Dios.

Page 48: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

And because they were good friends he fell instantly in love with her. Fortunately her relationship wasn't quite as high. I kept the two apart for the rest of the party.

Page 49: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

Then it was time for another graduation, this time it was Detritus' turn to leave for adult life, but not before throwing a party.

Page 50: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

Dee took the party as an opportunity to get to know Dalek better (he wants 50 first dates so there's a secondary motive to this).

Page 51: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

They got on exceptionally well, although Dee waited to take the relationship to the bedroom until her father wasn't in the same house.

Page 52: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

Once the party had come to an end and all the guests had left Detritus waved goodbye to his siblings and headed back to the Disc.

Page 53: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

Where he and his wife Eva have their hands pretty full with two children (Daniel and Yolanda) and newborn twins (Heather and Jessica).

Page 54: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

The next year continued as had become normal, with both Dios and Dee regularly stopping sims on the street for a chat and a flirt.

Page 55: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

A habit which tended to end up with them in the bedroom.

Page 56: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

Dorfl was a lot more restrained and behaved like a good little knowledge sim, working on his grades, his skills and his dancing. Part way through the year he developed a rather large want, and invited Roxanne over hoping to fill it.

Page 57: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

Once inside the house Dorfl dropped to one knee and pulled out the ring he'd secretly purchased.

Page 58: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

Initially Roxanne was stunned, she hadn't expected this at all.

Page 59: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

But once she'd gotten over her surprise she happily accepted the ring, while she hadn't anticipated Dorfl's proposal it was something she'd been hoping for.

Page 60: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

They spent the rest of the afternoon together until Roxanne had to leave for work. As she was going Dibbler caught her to welcome her into the family.

Page 61: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

After all that soppiness it was time for another graduation (are you getting the feeling that this update is all romance and graduations? Because I am)

Page 62: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

For most of the guests the party was spent dancing and helping themselves to snacks. One guest in particular was noticeably missing, along with the host himself.

Page 63: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

Dibbler and Mackenzie had slipped away to the bedroom.

Page 64: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

After the woohoo Dibbler went down on his knee and presented Mackenzie with a ring (perhaps influenced by Dorfl's earlier proposal).

Page 65: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

Her response was an ecstatic yes and they agreed to move in together once he'd found a house.

Page 66: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

With that sorted Dibbler joined the rest of the guests for pizza.

Page 67: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

Before making the transition into adulthood.

Page 68: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

Dibbler found a house and married Mackenzie, so far they only have one child - little Penny, although there is another one on the way. Dibbler has also begun his chain of businesses with a home venue where customers pay to eat home cooked meals, watch TV and play with Penny, it's doing pretty well.

Page 69: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

With only three sims left the house seemed very quiet and a more studious mood settled on the inhabitants.

Page 70: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

There was also the question of needing someone to look after the house until the next generation of Discworlds wanted to use it. Fortunately there's always someone looking for a room to rent and it wasn't hard to find a suitable caretaker.

Page 71: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

With that sorted the rest of the year passed quietly and everyone sailed through their exams, now there was just the matter of a couple of parties.

Page 72: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

First up was Dorfl, he is the heir after all.

Page 73: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

His guest of honour was Roxanne of course and she made good use of the time to meet the people that she'd be living with after the marriage.

Page 74: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

As was becoming typical of Discworld parties most of the time was spent dancing and swapping jokes.

Page 75: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

The call to grow up can come at the most inconvenient times, for Dorfl it came just as he finished a quick shower.

Page 76: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

Properly dried off Dorfl headed for the waiting taxi that would take him to the legacy lot and his adult life.

(Yes it's the jumper again, I can no longer picture Dorfl without it. If you look at the pictures closely you'll see it's actually got cleaner and brighter as he's got older, how that works I'm not quite sure.)

Page 77: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

And then it was Dios' turn. His guest list was very different - no family, just Time-Lords and the latest girl he had his eye on.

Page 78: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

By the end of the party the girl had seen the bedroom and the guests had all had a good time.

Page 79: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

With no definite plans Dios headed back to the Disc.

Page 80: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

Once there he spent a his first few days on his own, rattling around a house that was really too large for just him. Then one day he got a call from an old flame - Jackie Larrea, she invited him to come and hangout downtown. Interestingly she'd also invited Dalek and Dragon (who she'd also woohooed with), but she couldn't keep her hands off Dios all night.

On the spur of the moment Dios invited her to move in with him, they had no plans for marriage or for children, but we all know how much sim plans are worth.

Page 81: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

With her brothers gone Dee would have been feeling lonely if it hadn't been for Owen (the placeholder). She didn't think he was anything particularly special, but was enough to entertain her for now (Casanunda probably should have told his sons to pick a female placeholder).

Page 82: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

Dee was glad when her graduation day arrived, Owen had gotten boring and she missed her brothers terribly.

Page 83: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

So she invited the entire family round to celebrate.

Page 84: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

Along with her most recent fling (she's gotten less shy about woohooing with her father in the house).

Page 85: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

Much like Dios Dee left university with no plans, no long term partner and no desire for one.

Page 86: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

She ended up moving in with Dios and his growing family.

Despite his initial lack of interest in a family Dios now has two sons, one thanks to an alien abduction (Eros) and the other because of an accident (Orpheus). For all that they weren't planned the boys are doted on by their parents and their aunt, and things look promising for the baby that Dee's currently carrying.

Page 87: Chapter 15 - Empty Nest

And Dorfl? He was welcomed with open arms by his father and will very soon start a family of his own.

That's it, the end of this generation. Next time Dorfl will be in charge, and I'm debating whether to go for 10 kids for him and Roxanne.
