The University came into being on 01.01.2009 and commissioned its service since then. The University is on a sprawling 54.11 acres of land, Hubballi-Dharwad Corporation main road ( N H -4), close to Office of Commissioner, Regional Road Transport. Name of the Organization

1) Karnataka State Law University has been established by the Government of Karnataka

under the Karnataka State Law University Act, 2009.

The University came into being on 01.01.2009 and commissioned its service since then.

The University is on a sprawling 54.11 acres of land, Hubballi-Dharwad Corporation

main road ( N H -4), close to Office of Commissioner, Regional Road Transport.

Navanagar, Hubballi -580 025.

2) The office of the University will function on all working days between10:00 am to

05:30 pm except general holidays and Sundays and Second Saturday of every month.

FUNCTIONS OF THE UNIVERSITY

Vision

To transform Karnataka State into a legally conscious society, by providing quality

legal education that is professionally competent and socially relevant so as to realize the

constitutional primordial goal of social, economic and political justice and secure human

rights to every common man. Strive to promote the culture of law and justice in the

institutions of State, Non-government organizations and every individual by providing

informal legal education training and legal service. Above all, inoculate in everyone a spirit

of high moral and human values.

Mission

Produce law graduates and post graduates who will inspire and lead the community

by putting 'service' before 'self'. Strive for excellence in professional legal education. Promote

research activities to create basis for making law and legal institutions socially vibrant.

Spread legal literacy and legal aid to the poor and needy with a view to take justice to the

doorsteps of common man. Provide training to the members involved in the governance of

the state, legislators and judiciary to sensitize them in matters of law and justice. Above all,

work as a catalyst in inculcating a sense of faith among people of Karnataka in the

institutions of law and justice to realize the goals of social welfare.

The Karnataka State Law University is aiming to educate the populace on a realistic

tone, close to the life, kindling socio legal consciousness, enhancing marketability unveiling

employment openings by infusing better outlook and approach. Placing reliance on

indigenous socio- politico-legal system, but with a comparative approach, studying the legal

system of other countries is the unique feature of the University. This aids the pupil to have

strong base both at national and global front, to face any challenges effectively and

efficiently. Thus, the University has commissioned its activities with a slogan

“INDIAN ROOTS & GLOBAL HEIGHTS”.

Jurisdiction

The University is the single largest Law University in India having the credit of 101

affiliated Law Colleges including one University Law School under its umbrella. The details

some key points on the subject and forwarding the same to its next authority

with his opinion.

Assistant registrar Going through the contains of office note as well as draft prepared by the case

worker, and to ensure the correctness of the matter with reference to the rules

and regulations and forwarding the same to the next level officer with his

opinion.

Deputy Registrar Submission of files, with a suggestion on par with the interpretation of the law

and its reasonability to the Registrar for further action.

Registrar To check and exam the contains of files submitted, looking into the suggestion

and implications made by the lower staff and submission of the same with his

remarks to the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor for seeking approval/decision.

Vice – Chancellor According approval to the office notes, drafts and taking suitable decision on the

subject matters and passing orders for its implementation.

Template No. (IV): THE NORMS SET BY IT FOR THE DISCHARGE OF ITS FUNCTIONS:

The work assigned shall be attended on day to day basis. Steps shall be taken to dispose letters / files

received either on the same day of its receipt or within five days. File movement register shall be maintained.

Action shall be taken pursuant to the – directions of the authorities.

b) System of compensation:

(1) The salary and allowances payable are as per the terms and conditions of services relating to the

Hon’ble Vice Chancellor and are the same as that of a professor.

(2) The salary and allowances payable are as per terms and conditions of service of the Registrar, Registrar

(Evaluation), Finance Officer and employees on deputation are the same as that of their respective

positions in their parent department.

(3) The salaries and allowances to other officers and employees, or on monthly consolidated basis.

(4) Outsourced personnel are entitled for payment at the minimum wages/ contracted rates.
