Franklin, Frost, Jackson, Lanier, Robinson, and Rocky Run Middle Schools
Approved scope of study included the following schools:
Three community input meetings were held to discuss the scope of the boundary study
BACKGROUND
On January 24, 2013 the School Board authorized a boundary study to reduce overcrowding at Fairfax High School and Lanier Middle School
Projected capacity deficit in school year 2017 - 2018
Fairfax High School 600 studentsLanier Middle School 115 students
MAIN OBJECTIVES
• Provide an enrollment reduction of at least 300 students at Fairfax HS and 150 students at Lanier MS
• Balance enrollment among the schools in the study
• Avoid reassigning City of Fairfax resident students
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
• FCPS press releases
• Keep in touch “KIT” news releases
• Postings on FCPS homepage and Facilities and Transportation websites
• Development of the Fairfax HS and Lanier MS boundary study website http://www.fcps.edu/fts/planning/fairfaxlanier/index.shtml
• FAQs link with staff response
• Three Community Dialogue meetings on February 19, 20, and 26 to present and get feedback on boundary options (interpreters were provided at each meeting)

• Keep us where we are and move someone else, we are invested in the community
• Have students finish at the schools in which they started
