How have restaurants changed in the last 50 years?

In Spain, restaurants have changed a lot. In the 1940’s, our grandparents used to go to restaurants called ‘ventas’

Nowadays, there are a lot of types of restaurants thanks to the globalization because society has changed and now lifestyles are different.

We have less time to prepare our meal and because of that, we go to fast food restaurants and the tastes has changed too

Menus Before, the restaurants menus

were healthier and consistent than now, but they used to eat ‘cazuela’, ‘fideos’, ‘potaje’…

These days, there are more varieties of menus. In fact, restaurants use more fast food than before and it is less prepared because modern food use chemical products.

Furnitures Furnitures were made of wood and

they were rustic. There used to be less tables and space than now.

Currently, furnitures are more modern and they are made of iron, metal and leather. The restaurants are bigger and minimalist.

Food and habits

In Spain there are a lot of different kinds of food in restaurants. You can find Indian, mexican, chinese… food. It has been because a lot of foreigns have come to Spain and they have created their own restaurants.

Fast food is fashionable now because we do not a lot of time to cook.
