Arrival Expectations Gym

• Conversation Quiet conversation with neighbor until signal is given. Signal: “May I have your attention please” on microphone. Conversation then is stopped.

• Help Walk up to adult in charge if an immediate attention to a problem is needed

• Activity Sit in classroom rows. Read quietly or talk to neighbor while seated flat on floor

• Movement Walk in correct door, move directly to gym, sit flat on floor.

• Participation Everyone in gym

Assembly Expectations• Conversation Quiet conversation with neighbor until signal is given. Signals: School song, person raises hand, person walks up to microphone. During flag salute, no conversation, including standing or return to sitting.

• Help Raise hand, stand and go quietly to teacher

• Activity Eyes on speaker, active listening, clap hands when appropriate, voices off, stay seated flat on floor

• Movement When directed by speaker or activity

• Participation Everyone

Bathroom Expectations• Conversation No

• Help Seek closest classroom teacher if dangerous or inappropriate activity. Report immediately

• Activity Go, Flush, Wash, Leave

• Movement Eyes forward, second tile in hall, be respectful of other classes

• Participation One or two students at a time. Teacher will monitor students as groups become larger.

Dismissal Expectations Gym

• Conversation Quiet conversation with neighbor until signal is given. Signal: “May I have your attention please, bus number _______is here, ” on microphone. Conversation then is stopped. After conversation is stopped, signal is given for the students to stand quietly.

• Help Walk up to adult in charge if an immediate attention to a problem is needed

• Activity Sit in bus run rows, two rows for each bus labeled primary and intermediate. Read quietly or talk to neighbor while seated flat on floor., no seating

changes, bathroom use, water fountain use or library use.. Siblings may sit together.

• Movement When signal is given, students stand quietly and walk in bus line out the front door.. Bathroom, drinks, library and returns to classroom, is not allowed at

this time.

• Participation Everyone in gym

Indoor/Outdoor Hallway Expectations

• Conversation No verbal, silent wave hello

• Help Raise hand when appropriate

• Activity Walk safely and quietly from one area to another

• Movement Eyes forward, toes forward, feet on second tile, hands and arms relaxed and to your sides and single file.

• Participation All students

The goal is to provide classrooms free from hallway disruptions. If groups consist of two students they can walk side by side. If groups consist of two students, they can walk side by side and whisper talk if not disturbing other classrooms in session. If groups consist of three or more students, they should follow hallway procedures to provide enough safe space for passing. Teachers should supervise all larger groups by providing either a monitoring system for the expectations or their direct supervision.
