Hockey Queensland President's Welcome

Welcome to Maryborough and the Queensland Mens Masters Over 35s State Championships. Maryborough District Hockey Association are the hosts for this important tournament and I wish to thank in advance the many volunteers who will ensure its success. This includes many people, ranging from local host association volunteers, to umpires and technical officials, to coaches and managers of the competing teams and supporters. By donating your time you have not only enabled the success of these championships but helped to contain costs. There is no doubt that many of the older stars of Queensland and even Australian mens hockey will be showing their skill at Maryborough this weekend. There is no better opportunity to see hockey played for the right reasons than to witness our masters players from all over Queensland come together to play our great game. The main thing is that everyone, including umpires and technical officials and supporters, but most importantly the players, enjoy the experience – both on and off the field. Friendships made at this event can last a lifetime, so please nurture and treasure them. So thank you Maryborough for your support of hockey, and to all the participants - please enjoy the friendly but competitive spirit of the tournament and enjoy this week of great hockey. Queensland Mens Masters Committee Chairmen’s Message

Welcome to the Queensland Men's Masters Hockey Championships for Over 35s in Maryborough June 1 – 2 2019. After a great carnival in Mackay in 2018 and another successful National Championships in Lismore/Ballina I welcome you all again to the State championships for the Over 35s in Maryborough in 2019. This year’s carnival will see 4 teams from across the state. This is down on previous years and we will look at the format for future years to increase the number of players we can attract to this carnival. The format of the over 60s carnival continues to be a great success and this may provide an answer for the O35’s in the future. It still remains an opportunity to have a large group of old and new friends together in one place at one time. An opportunity to re-live past glories, and create new ones. Thanks to the Maryborough hockey community for hosting this weekend. We look forward to a warm welcome and good old-fashioned hospitality whenever we come to visit. We are very fortunate to have this opportunity to do what we all enjoy into our later years. I remember a time when it was considered pretty extraordinary for someone over 40 to be still playing our game, and here we are with over 300 staying fit and healthy and having fun. Enjoy the hockey and enjoy the camaraderie. Enjoy Maryborough. Gil Voysey Chairman Queensland Mens Masters Committee

Maryborough & District Hockey Association President's Welcome

On behalf of the Maryborough & District Hockey Association I

would like to welcome Hockey Queensland Officials, competitors,

their families and supporters to the 2019 Over 35’s Masters Men’s

State Championships. The Maryborough Hockey Association

executive committee, volunteers and members are proud to have

been chosen to host these championships and we hope that our

hospitality will make this an enjoyable and memorable experience

for all involved.

Maryborough has been well represented over the years at both

State and National level and I am looking forward to watching the

talent that will be on display, with hockey players showcasing their

skills, sportsmanship and enthusiasm for the game, in the hope of

winning these state championships, and for some, going on to

represent their state and country.

Once again, welcome to Maryborough, we hope you enjoy your

stay, and your weekend exceeds all expectations. Good luck to all,

play hard and above all stay safe.
