The Mineral Wells Chamber ofCommerce was recognized earlier thisyear for its innovative use of media by

the Texas Chamber of CommerceExecutives, according to ChamberExecutive Director Beth HenaryWatson.

The TCCE Annual Conference washeld June 27 at the Four Seasons inIrving-Las Colinas and more than 300attendees were present when Watsonand Membership Director MarcelindaWilliams accepted the awards.

Competing against other chamberswith a total revenue of $200,000 to

$399,999, the local chamber cameaway with a first place award for itsmembership brochure design, a sec-ond-place finish for its map and a third-place award for its tourism brochure.

In 2010 to 2011, the chamber madea conscious decision to upgrade thequality of its materials for both chambermembership and tourism efforts,Watson said.

The process of revamping their bro-chures was lengthy, she said, though

recognition by the TCCE indicates theresult was worth the hard work of anumber of individuals.

It was a collaboration between PerriLeavelle Design and our chamber

    staff,Watsonsaid,addingthe workcontin-uedoverseveralmonthsto pro-duce a

    finishedproduct.The

    changeswere farfrom justcosmetic,she said.

What we changed was everythingfrom how benefits are explained to ourmembers and how easy the member-ship application is to fill out to how our

attractions and lodging properties arepromoted on our tourism brochure,Watson said.

She noted the impact of eye-catch-ing and easily understood publications

    can ben-efit thechamber,its mem-bers andthe com-munity asa whole.

    Thetourismbrochureis what

    we sendto peoplewhoinquireaboutvisitingMineralWells,

Watson said. Its very importantMineral Wells and Palo Pinto Countyare presented as the appealing placeto visit that they are.

The brochure and application provid-ed for prospective chamber membersrelies on innovative design, too, sheadded.

Its very important the benefits of

being a chamber investor are easy forpeople to understand and that theapplication is simple to complete,Watson explained.

To that end, the new membershipapplication was pared down from fivepages to one.

Watson emphasized the importantrole of member businesses in the suc-cess of the chambers award-winningmap.

The map we won second place for

is sponsored by local chamber mem-bers who purchase ads, she noted. Each and every one of them have arole.

The map, in addition to being eye-catching and easy to use, Watson said,is painstakingly researched to ensureits accuracy.

We work very closely with the city,in particular City Manager LanceHowerton, to ensure that it is accurate, she said.
