Examination sign-up

• Sign-up for examinations is mandatory for students at Chalmers

• In order to sign up yourself, you have to be registered for the course, but not passed.

• Course registrations made previous terms are still valid for examination sign-up

• The sign-up is made in the Student Portal

Examination sign-up• The sign-up function will be available six weeks

before the first day of the examination days. You must sign up no later than two weeks before the first day of the examination period

• Remember to bring your exam code to the examination! It is personal and only valid for one exam.

• If you have not signed up in time you will only be allowed to sit the examination if space permits

• If the sign-up function for any reason does not work, make sure to contact a Student Centre before the sign-up closes!

In the following cases you cannot sign up by yourself and must contact a Student Centre and ask someone to do it for you:

• You want to raise your grades in an already passed course

• You are registered for a discontinued course that has been replaced by another course (the Student Centers usually knows which courses it concerns)

Time and place for examination

• The time, date and place for examinations are indicated in the Student Portal

• J = Campus Johanneberg, L = Campus Lindholmen

• When an exam runs in the morning this is indicated by am and when it runs in the afternoon it is indicated by pmam = starting time 8.30pm = starting time 14.00

How to find Examination Room

• Exact location of examination room:On Johanneberg Campus the examination rooms are posted at the main entrance of the Mechanical Engineering “Maskin” Building, and at the bottom of the Western (“VV”) and Eastern (“VÖ”) stairs of the Civil & Environmental Engineering Building “Väg och Vatten” on the same day the examinations are held.

Anonymous Examinations

• Examinations are conducted on an anonymous basis.

• A code is generated when you sign up for the examination. Bring your code and fill in the examination papers with it.

How many times?

• If you fail you can take the exam all over again at the next examination date given. You can try as many times as you need, but if you fail repeatedly you should talk to the student counselors.

• You can take the exam again in order to raise your grade at the next examination date given.

Rules in the examination room

• Be on time! You are not allowed to sit for the exam if you are more than 30 minutes late

• Breaks: You must not take a break in the exam during the first hour. After that you can take a break only according to the supervisors instructions.

• Show a valid photo identification card (passport, driver’s license, Bank ID card) and your exam code.

a receipt to proof that you have paid you Student Union fee

• You are not allowed to leave the examination until after one hour has passed

provided in the examination room.

• Only write on the checkered side of the paper

• Only one item per page (you might of course need more pages for one item)

• You are allowed to use a pencil

• Check-mark the items you have answered on the examination cover

• Arrange all sheets submitted in order (item 1, item 2..etc) and finally number the sheets

Aids• Your teacher will notify you in plenty of time before

the exam the specific aids you are allowed to bring to the examination

• Aids could be: Calculators, tables, dictionaries

• Aids are not allowed to contain personal notes

21 calendar days after the exam date

• Results will be sent to you by e-mail and reported to the Student Portal

Chalmers Alcohol and Drug Abuse Policy

• Chalmers should be free from alcohol och drugs during working- and study hours

• An individual’s alcohol consumption during leisure time should not impair safety, performance and welfare at the workplace.

• Sale of alcohol (during parties) are made in for the purpose assigned locations (pubs)

• For other parties, application for permission at to be made , before every party, at Chalmers.

• All sale of alcohol demands permission from the authorities.

Alcohol and Drug Abuse PolicyThis Policy applies to employees, students and contractors/consultants at Chalmers. An alcohol and drug-free workplace is a prerequisite for a good work environment. Work and study and alcohol and drugs do not go together. Chalmers cannot and will not condone employees or any other individuals working at Chalmers being under the influence of alcohol or drugs while on duty, or students during their studies at Chalmers.  At official functions, corporate entertainment, staff parties, dissertations and graduation ceremonies, if alcoholic beverages are being served, non-alcoholic beverages must also be available. Alcohol should always be served with restriction. The general climate and attitude at Chalmers should promote and encourage open discussions about the approach to issues concerning alcohol and drug-related ill-health. An individual’s alcohol consumption during leisure time should not impair safety, performance and welfare at the workplace. Alcoholism is classified as a disease (WHO 1974).Non-prescription use of addictive pharmaceuticals cannot and will not be tolerated.Chalmers’ definition of drugs coincides with the definition of illegal substances as stated in 8§ in the Penal Law on Narcotics.

Regulations for TeachingIn a teaching situation, a teacher has the right to immediately take necessary measures to maintain order and safety or to avert danger.  Such a measure can be to dismiss one or more students from a part of the teaching session.

A student may be warned or suspended if he or she1) attempts to mislead in connection with an examination or other assessment of study performance, 2) disturbs or impedes teaching, an examination or other activity at Chalmers, 3) insults the integrity of or harasses any other student or employee at Chalmers within the framework of activities at the university, or 4) otherwise breaches the Chalmers rules or other directives to students.

The Disciplinary Committee can decide on expulsion only ifit is deemed that there is a manifest risk that the student on the grounds of, for example, mental illness or alcohol/narcotics abuse may during the course of his or her studies injure himself or herself or another person or damage property of value, or if the student is guilty of serious criminal activity.
