The Curriculum for the Working Smart was developed by Charlotte Works and the partner agency staff:
• Central Piedmont Community College• Center for Community Transitions, • Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont• NC Division of Vocational Rehabilitation.
Curriculum development also included input from employer focus groups. The entire curriculum development process took approximately 18 months to complete. S

The lessons learned throughout the training are designed to benefit workplace relationships, and relationships outside of work.
Curriculum• Module 1: Self Awareness (3 Lessons with a focus on: Personal Branding,
Self-Change, Cognitive Cycle)
• Module 2: Self-Management (4 Lessons with a focus on: Stress Management, Warning Signs)
• Module 3: Work Ethics (2 Lessons with a focus on: Employer Expectations, Code-Switching)
• Module 4: Communications Skills (4 Lessons with a focus on: Active Listening, Expressing Concerns, Feedback)
• Module 5: Problem-Solving Skills (3 Lessons with a focus on: Goal Setting, Facts vs. Opinions, Options and Outcomes)
