LatitudeLatitude lines are the

angular distances measured north and south of the Equator . Latitude lines are also know as Parallels.

The lines become progressively shorter as ones moves toward the North or South Pole.

The 60 degree latitude lines is very useful for quickly assessing are distortions on maps. It is also on-half the length of the equator.

There are 60 minutes of latitude between every degree and 60 seconds of latitude between every minute.

EquatorThe Equator is the

longest Latitude line, it divides the Earth into a north half and a south half.

Therefore it is located halfway between the North Rotational Pole and The South Rotational Pole.

The Latitude of the Equator is 0 degrees because you measure distances North and South of it.

angular distances measured east and west of the Prime Meridian.

These lines only go half way around the Earth, forming half-circles.

Longitude lines are also known as meridians.

They being and end at a rational pole and are roughly the same length.

Prime Meridian and International Date Line

The Prime Meridian is the zero (0) degree longitude line because angular distances are measured east and west of it.

It begins at the North Pole and runs through the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, England and continues all the way to the South Pole.

The Prime Meridian goes half way around the earth.

The International Date Line is also the 180 degree longitude line.

Which is the highest numbered longitude line.

It is located opposite the Prime Meridian.

It is called the International Date Line because when you travel west of it you add a day and when you travel east of it you subtract a day.

But the International Date Line is not directly on the 180 degree longitude line; it zigzags through the Pacific Ocean to avoid splitting countries and island group.

ConclusionIn conclusion the Earth’s Grid is the network

of parallels and meridians super imposed on Earth’s surface used to locate features.

I have never done a presentation like this and it was very eye opening. The presentation can go where ever you want it to. I don’t have to click and click to get back to a particular slide. I like that I can click backwards as well. I also liked all the animation features, it really spices up the presentation.
