3 Basics

3.1 Demands of the client

4 Test program

4.1 Contact protection IP6X (contact protection such as IP4X) according to DIN 40050-9 point 7.3

EUT No. 1 and No. 2 non-operating

Before the dust test, the contact protection IP6X shall be realized. Protection against access to hazardous parts with a standardized wire. The access probe ∅ 1.0 mm (force 1 N) shall not penetrate into the housing at any point.

according to DIN 40050-9 point 7.3

The test of the degree of protection IP6KX applies to the following demands: The specimen shall be exposed cyclically to a whirling air flow with finely distributed powder dust in the dust chamber. As test dust Portland cement shall be used according to the demands of the client.

Visual inspection After the dust test IP6KX, the specimens shall be examined for external damages. The specimen housings shall not be opened until the end of the high temperature water jet test IPX9K, whereas the examination for penetrated dust and water shall take place.

4.3 Water Ingress: pressure washing – high temperature water jet test IPX9K according to DIN 40050-9 point 7.4

EUT No.1 and No.2 non-operating

The test of the degree of protection IPX9K shall be performed according to the standards.

Visual inspection After the high temperature water jet test IPX9K, the specimens shall be examined for external damages caused by the high temperature water jet. Afterwards, it shall be determined, if water could penetrate through the specimen screwing into the sealed test box by passing the test plate. After opening the specimens, the specimen housings shall be examined for penetrated water.

The tests of the degree of protection IP6K9K of the Universal Housings IPA were carried out one by one according to the program of testing methods (complex 4.1 to 4.3) under defined environmental conditions, according to the standards and to the demands of the client.

The high temperature water jet test was realized according to the demands of the client with the following test parameters:

water temperature: 80 °C water pressure: 80 bar at the test lance (ca.115 bar at Kärcher device) distance: 150 mm

The specimens were mounted separately to a turning knob and tested separately as well, except for the bottom area.

Visual inspection After the respective single tests IP6KX and IPX9K, the specimens were examined visually for external damages and any other changes. After the high temperature water jet test IPX9K, it was determined, if water could penetrate through the specimen screwing into the sealed test box by passing the test plate. After opening the specimens, the specimen housings were examined for penetrated dust and water.

Acceptance criteria The contact protection IP6X is considered as passed, if the test wire (Ø 1 mm, force 1 N) could not penetrate into the specimen housing.

The protection against foreign objects IP6KX (dust-tight) is considered as passed, if after the test no dust penetrated into the specimen housing.

The high temperature water jet test IPX9K is considered as passed, if the water jet has no harmful effects and no water penetrated into the specimen housing. By sealing the specimen mounting (test plate), furthermore no water may penetrate into the test box.

6.1 Contact protection IP6X (contact protection such as IP4X) according to DIN 40050-9 point 7.3

The standardized test wire (Ø 1 mm, force 1 N) could not penetrate at any point of the specimen housing.

6.2 Degree of protection IP6KX (dust ingress test – dust-tight) according to DIN 40050-9 point 7.3

- After the protection against foreign objects IP6KX, neither external damages nor any other changes were determined at the specimens.

- No dust was determined inside the opened specimen housings.

6.3 Water Ingress: pressure washing – high temperature water jet test IPX9K according to DIN 40050-9 point 7.4

- After the high temperature water jet test IPX9K, neither damages nor any other changes were determined at the specimens.

- The specimen screwing including the sealing ring at the test plate was tight. No water was determined inside the sealed test box.

- No water was determined inside the opened specimen housings.

The tests were realized according to the standards and to the demands of the client.

The tests of the degree of protection IP6K9K of both Universal-Housings have been passed.

The further evaluation will be done by the client.

The results of the test only refer to the above mentioned equipment under test. The report or individual pages of this test report may only be copied following the written consent of the test laboratory. The test report-No. 7564 / 09 includes 5 pages and 1 appendix 1 – pictures
