30,000‐square‐foot state‐of‐the‐art LEED certified building providing the tools, technologies and innovative instructional techniques to meet industry needs.

U.S. Wind and Orsted are working to develop a supply chain of companies that will construct, operate and maintain the nearly 50 offshore wind turbines set to be built off the coast of Ocean City.

OFFSHORE WIND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT GRANT (FY 2019)

The training center must provide technical training of skilled trades related to the development, manufacturing, construction, installation, and operations & maintenance of an offshore wind energy project.

Examples of skilled trades utilized for the construction, installation, and operations & maintenance of an offshore wind industry include, but are not limited to, welding, metal fabrication, electrical work, millwrighting, rigging, and pile driving. 

Grantees will be required to ensure the training center’s graduating students complete, at a minimum, the US Department of Labor’s (DOL) Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) 10‐Hour safety course. 

MEA Budget for FY19 ‐ $800,000; CSM received $200,000 and provided a 50% in kind match
