Student Volunteer Staff Application

Center for Service in Action student staff are volunteer leadership positions within the Cal Poly Dean of Students department. Members are responsible for program development in one Student Community Services (SCS) or Change the Status Quo (CSQ) program. Members are responsible for attending weekly meetings and collaborating with the leadership team, which includes the Center for Service in Action Coordinators, AmeriCorps VIP Member(s), Graduate Assistant(s), and the Dean of Students Marketing Team with a time commitment per week listed above. Job Requirements:

All CSA Student Staff: • Attend weekly meetings with the entire SCS or CSQ program, and their own SCS or CSQ sub-program. • Develop leadership skills and assist with leadership development of other SCS or CSQ Members. • Help with programming, event planning, and assist in conflict mediation. • Serve as a steward and ambassador for the Center for Service in Action, and SCS or CSQ. • Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines, oversee student volunteers, and lead

reflections. • Willingness to develop critical thinking about service, recognize social justice issues, and respond

with open curiosity. • Maintain a Higher Education GPA of 2.3 or greater.

• Plan and attend major CSA events: Make a Difference Day, Mustangs Making Miracles Holiday Gift Drive, Change the Status Quo, LEAD Awards, Open House, Social Justice Series, Community Partner Dinner, Homelessness Awareness Week, Off-Campus Programs Alcohol Workshops, and other outreach events.

• Attend SCS Leadership Retreats. • Organize social events, retreats, general volunteer recruitment, and leadership development events. • Attend at least 1 other SCS Program’s event per quarter. • Plan and manage weekly SCS general meetings and attend community partner meetings. • Assist in the cultivation of new and existing community partner relationships. • Handle all office matters, paperwork, and budgeting in relation to their program. • Maintain records of volunteer attendance at events and lead reflections after each service.

• Plan Change the Status Quo: Social Justice Conference. • Plan and manage weekly meetings with the entire CSQ Planning Board. • Plan and manage weekly meetings with your individual CSQ Planning Board. • Assist in the cultivation of new and existing community partner relationships. • Handle all office matters and budgeting in relation to their program.
