• Adding activations to FNP 11.x removed nothing, added nothing, to report log content or format
• Report logs still contain all served license activity• Served licenses can be loaded either from files or from
server-side trusted storage
Virtualization Best Practices
• Application– Use concurrent licenses, put no restrictions on application’s machine– Migrate from node-locked licenses, if necessary
• License Server– Distribute as a virtual appliance
• Set ls_allow_vm=VM_ONLY, put one of FNP’s new UUID hostids on SERVER line• Use VMotion or Hyper-V Live Migration for redundancy
– Distribute as an application or service• Limit to any virtual machine running on a specified physical/host machine
– Put one of FNP’s new “bare metal” hostids on SERVER line• Ethernet MAC address, IP Address, Hostname, or Display of physical machine
• Limit to only a specified physical/host machine– Set ls_allow_vm=PHYSICAL, put FNP’s traditional hostids on SERVER line
• Use three servers for redundancy
