nd th The Indian Mathematical genius Srinivasa Ramanujan was born on 22 December 1887 and died on 26

April 1920. Paying tribute to Srinivasa Ramanujan, Former Honorable Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan

Singh has told that he was a legendary Mathematician; he was a great son of India and Tamil Nadu. He ranked

among giants in the world of Mathematics. In recognition of his contribution to Mathematics, the Central

government had decided to celebrate Ramanujan's birthday as the National Mathematics Day every year.

In view of celebration of National Mathematics Day – 2014 (NMD-2014), under the guidance Hon'ble

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sudhir U. Meshram the Department of Mathematics, School of Mathematical

Sciences, North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon is going to celebrate National Mathematics Day-2014

(NMD-2014) catalyzed and jointly supported by National Council for Science & Technology Communication (NCSTC), DST, Government of

India and Rajiv Gandhi Science & Technology Commission (RGSTC), Government of Maharashtra.

Proposed Activities in celebration of National Mathematics Day – 2014 (NMD-2014) :

Ø Popular Mathematics Lecture series for High School Students, graduate students and teachers :

· Inauguration of NMD-2014 on March 18, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in presence of Prof. V. L. Maheshawari, Director, School of Life Sciences, North

Maharashtra University, Jalgaon and First Popular Lecture at Mahatma Phule Vidyalaya, Dhanur, Tal. & Dist. Dhule by Prof. M. C. Meshram,

Rtd. Professor, Department of Mathematics, LIT, R. T. M. University, Nagpur.

· Second Popular Lecture on March 18, 2015 at 2:30 p.m for B. Sc. and M. Sc. Mathematics students and teachers at SSVPS'S L. K. Dr. P. R.

Ghogrey Science College, Dhule by Prof. M. C. Meshram, Rtd. Professor , Department of Mathematics, LIT, R. T. M. University, Nagpur.

· Third Popular Lecture on March 20, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. for High School and B. Sc. students and teachers at Narayan Ananda Borse Vidyalaya,

Shahpur, Tal. Jamner, Dist. Jalgaon by Prof. H. V. Kumbhojkar, Rtd. Professor and Head, Department of Mathematics, Shivaji University,

Kolhapur.

Mathematics, NMU, Jalgaon on March 22, 2015 : This workshop is an attempt to provide common platform for young researchers & teachers of colleges. More focus will be on Promotion of

Mathematics Research and Opportunities available in various fields.

Registration fees :

· College teachers & Research Students : 200/-

· P. G. Students : 100/-

There is no registration fee for students appearing for Objective Test Competition at various colleges and also no registration fees for U.G. Students

selected for Quiz Competition to be held on March 22, 2015.
