“Sports Day Celebration”

As it was the first time for Mechanical Department to organize a sports day

for their 1st batch of Mechanical Engineering; all faculties and students

were very much excited for the same. All the students of 1st year

participated with great enthusiasm.

Sports day was organized on 16th and 17th of February. There were games

like Dodge ball; Table Tennis, Chess, Tug of war and Volleyball were played

on the first day, whereas cricket tournament was organized on the second

day.

Day 1

Event 1: Tug of war

Total 4 teams participated in this event. It got started at sharp 9:00 am at K.P

sports ground. Matchs were played on knockout basis. Two team (Team Vivek

and Team Aum) reached in the finals, where three rounds were played. The

team which won two rounds out of the three was declared as winner. Team

Vivek won the 1st round. In the 2nd round Team Aum gave a tough competition

to Team Vivek but they couldn’t make it and again Team Vivek won. Thus

Team Vivek owned the Title.

Event 2: Dodge ball

Total 6 teams participated in this event. The event began at 10:00 am. The

matches were played on knockout basis. Three teams (Team Bhavya , Team

Tanay and team Spandan) won the knockout matches. The team who won with

highest points has a direct entry to the finals and other two team were supposed

to play the semi-finals. Team Bhavya getting highest points, got direct entry

into the finals. Team Tanay won in the semi final and compete with Team

Bhavya in the finals.

The final game was the most excited one as there was a tie between the two

finalist teams. Hence, 5 min tie breaker round was played , where Team Tanay

played very well and owned the title for his team.

Event 3: Table Tennis and Chess

Table tennis and chess were

played after the lunch break. It

was played a SCET sports room,

TIFAC Core Center. Both

games were played parallel in

different rooms. There were 12

participants in table tennis and

in chess 14 participants.

These two games became more

interesting as faculties also

participated in both the games. The

table tennis final game was played

between Prof.Amit Mehta and 1st year

student Tanay pandya. After having a

tough match Tanay Pandya won the

table tennis match.

The final match of Chess was played between Dr. Nitin vibhakar (H.O.D, MED)

and Tanay Pandya.

Event 4: Volleyball

Total 3 teams participated in volleyball. Finalist was decided on qualifier basis

of two matches. Team Tanay won both the matches and Team Riken lost one

match, and became the finalist. Both the team fought for the finals and Team

Riken won the Title by (21-17) points.

After final match of volleyball the day one ended. The day was spent well with

too much fun with all.

Day 2

Event 5: Cricket Tournament

The most awaited event of the sports day for students as well as faculties was

the cricket tournament. It was played on 17th February at K.P sports ground.

Total 6 teams participated along with one faculty team. The matches were

played on knockout basis. Team Darshan directly reached to the finals on the

run rate basis. The other two Team (Team Nilesh Sir and Team Tanay) played

semi-finals.

The final was played between Team Darshan and Team Tanay. Team Darshan

won the toss and opted to bat first. With massive batting by Riken Patel Team

Darshan set huge target of 127 run for the opponent team. In the second inning

Team Tanay couldn’t chase the target and Team Darshan won the tournament.

All participants played the games very enthusiastically and fairly. All dispersed

carrying valuable memory of the event.
