St. Francis so deeply reflected on scripture and the love of God that his

whole life, his being was transformed by prayer, solitude and reflection.

Today, let us thank God for the gift of our parish community. The teaching,

healing and comforting we receive through practicing our faith together

are truly gifts of God’s abundant grace. Thank you, God, for the joy

of celebrating Mass together as One.

Stewardship Thought

As we pray today for an increase of spiritual gifts, we are reminded by the bishops’ pastoral on stewardship that good stewardship of the Church “means cherishing and fostering the gifts of all, while using one’s own gifts to serve the community of faith.”

Page 17: Celebrating Veterans Day 11 09-2014

Franciscan Moment

Prayer effects the peace and joy we need to love and serve all God’s creation,

simply because it is God’s and it is good.

From Bob Fitzsimmons, OFS, “St. Francis and Divinity.”

Thank you, God, for the gift of being a part of something greater than

ourselves. Belonging to our parish means sharing resources that are, in turn, shared in places near and far,

ministering to those in need, spreading the good news of the gospel.

Franciscan Moment

To pray is to discover God at the centerof our lives. We don’t pray to acquire a

relationship with God…we pray to disclose the image of God within us.

Pray for vocations, and encourage those

who might respond to this unique call.

We can also respond to our own baptismal call

by working collaboratively with our priests to build up the

Kingdom of God.

Thank you, God, for the gift of my parish. It brings me closer to you, and

closer to my brothers and sisters in faith. Help me to support your work

through my parish community, sharing time in prayer, talent in ministry and treasure in proportion to my ability.
