From 1946 to 1991, the United States engaged in something called the Cold War.The "Cold War" was far from cold.From 1950 - 1953, Americans fought in Korea. We lost oveer 36,000 troops, and we have over 8,000 missing in action.From 1959 - 1975, Americans fought in Vietnam. We lost over 56,000 troops, and we have over 2,000 missing in action.In 1961, the Berlin Wall went up. In 1989, it came down.During the decade of the 1980s, we lost over 20,000 troops.Not only did we have to stand against the Soviets, we had to stand against terrorists too.10 percent of the Americans who have given their lives in the service of this country died during that period.You are either training for war or fighting a war because Freedom is never free.To all our Cold War Veterans, you are remembered.Thank you for your service.TRANSCRIPT
