Celebrating ExcellenceINROADS MISSION IS TO DEVELOP AND PLACE TALENTED UNDERSERVED YOUTH IN BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY, AND PREPARE THEM FOR CORPORATE AND COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP.

Despite many initiatives to support diversity, individuals

from underserved groups still lag behind in education and

career and leadership opportunities in Corporate America.

Today, people of color make up only 12.1% and women

only 20.9% of Fortune 100 executive teams.

Why does this matter? Until these statistics improve, women

and people of color will not experience full economic vitality

for themselves or for their communities.

And ultimately, many of our young people today will be

left behind.

INROADS is working to change this picture for the better.

Through research-guided programs, INROADS supports

the country’s underserved, talented students, providing

access to high-quality leadership development, as well as

college and career-readiness preparation. Students learn

from hands-on career exploration and immersion,

personal coaching, mentorship, and community service.

From its founding in 1970 in business executive

Frank C. Carr’s home city of Chicago, INROADS has

grown into a nationally recognized 501 (c) (3) nonprofit,

impacting the lives of over 154,000 youth.

CORE PROGRAMS

INROADS LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING MODEL PROVIDES INTENSIVE AND YEAR-ROUND SUPPORT.

College Links · Seeks to improve

educational outcomes for underserved

ninth through twelfth graders.

College Leadership Development and Internship Program · Secures

paid corporate internships for

1,500 students each year.

Learning Summit · Is a three-

day intensive “boot camp” for job

readiness, where students sharpen

their skills in critical thinking and

problem solving, and learn ways to

handle values and ethics issues.

Frank C. Carr National Day of Service · Brings together thousands

of INROADS interns and alumni

from across the country each year

to participate in student-led service

projects, such as cleaning up neglected

communities or feeding and helping

people who are homeless. Students

are shaped by the experience and they

learn that service is a very important

component in leadership development.

INROADS IMPACT

Exposure · Each year, 5,000 high school and college students receive some form

of corporate/professional work-place exposure, including corporate visits and

experiential learning opportunities.

High School and College Completion · Each year, thousands of students receive

academic support, coaching, scholarships or paid internships that enable them to

persist in and complete high school and college.

Development and Training · Each year, thousands of students develop important

college- and job-readiness “soft skills” through INROADS’ leadership development,

training, coaching and mentoring model.

INROADS engages more than 5,000 students each year and places 1,500 in paid internships at over 200 companies.

80%

100%

82%

OF INROADS’ STUDENTS ARE “FIRST GENERATION” — THE FIRST IN THEIR FAMILIES TO ATTEND COLLEGE.

OF INROADS’ 2015 GRADUATING HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS WERE ACCEPTED INTO COLLEGE.

OF INROADS’ 2015 GRADUATING COLLEGE SENIORS ACCEPTED OFFERS FROM THEIR SPONSORING COMPANIES.

“I participated in INROADS pre-college component and college internship program. My experience was great. I contributed to my internship company while creating a foundation for my future.”
