CELEBRATING 10 YEARS OF
GREAT THEATRE
10 A N N I V E R S A R Yth
Faith plays a major role when you start a Jewish Theatre company.
Over the past decade, your faith in us has propelled HGJTC to become a major Jewish theatre in North America and a central voice in Canada. We are grateful to our sponsors, donors and our 2500 subscribers who have supported us over the years. Please join us as we enter our 10th season and celebrate in our home at the Greenwin Theatre at the Toronto Centre for the Arts.
We invite you to join in our excitement about our upcoming season, a slate which thematically explores the concept of faith. We are honoured to welcome to our stage
award-winning performers, including Lally Cadeau and Brent Carver, and are thrilled to partner with Dancap Productions for an exciting Canadian premiere.
Together we will meet characters who struggle with their faith, embrace their faith, and examine their faith—in a way that only live theatre can offer - surrounded by great drama, comedy and unforgettable music.
We have listened to our subscribers and this year we offer you more selection in seating and pricing than ever before.
We have faith in you, our audience. We hope you will have faith in us and join your friends and subscribe.

Inspired by the true story of his maternal grandmother, playwright Martin Sherman has crafted an unforgettable
portrait of an octogenarian looking back on her amazing life as a survivor of the Warsaw Ghetto and a product
of the Jewish Diaspora in America. Lally Cadeau returns to the Harold Green Jewish Theatre Company with
her Dora Award-winning performance that inaugurated our company.

Legendary psychoanalyst Dr. Sigmund Freud and the young, rising scholar C.S. Lewis meet head-to-head in a
fictitious battle of the mind. The play is set in Freud’s home on the brink of England entering the war in 1939.
This deeply touching play is filled with humour and wit and explores the minds, hearts and souls of two brilliant
men addressing love, sex and the greatest questions of all time: the existence of God, and the meaning of life.

The classic show business story of a son’s struggle between his passion for a Broadway career, and his father’s
plans to have him follow in his footsteps as a cantor. This dynamic production features musical numbers by
legendary composers and such classic songs as “Let Me Sing and I’m Happy,” “Mammy,” “Sonny Boy,” and
“You Made Me Love You.” Based on Samson Raphaelson’s 1925 Broadway play and adapted specifically for our
audience, this classic story is brought to life in a toe-tapping experience you will never forget.

AN EVENING OF LEONARD BERNSTEINA FUNDRAISER FOR THE HAROLD GREEN JEWISH THEATRE COMPANY
Join us for an evening of songs by Leonard Bernstein, one of the most prodigiously talented Jewish musicians in American history. From his world-renowned classics like “West Side Story” and “Candide,” to his more traditional Broadway musicals like “On the Town” and “Wonderful Town,” Bernstein made an enduring impact on the American theatre. This concert will be performed for one-night only by some of the most talented musical theatre performers in Canada.
The Harold Green Jewish Theatre Company is a not-for-profit charitable organization dedicated to telling the Jewish story. We are unlike any other not-for-profit theatre company. At present, we do not receive any government support. We rely on YOU, our generous donors and patrons, to help sustain us and allow us to keep presenting these wonderful productions. In this, our tenth season, please consider making a contribution that includes your subscription as a benefit.
THERE ARE MANY OTHER OPTIONS YOU CAN CHOOSE TO SUPPORT OUR COMPANY: • Producer Legacy Series • Chai Society • Show Sponsorships
We appreciate donations of ANY kind. Program recognition is provided for all donations over $118.
