The technical design of a high performance
home cinema is not a subjective decision.
For every parameter, there is a standard that
should be observed in order to offer a truly
immersive entertainment experience. This
course will examine those standards and give
you an insight into the importance of designing
cinemas using standards based engineering
calculations, rather than subjective guesswork.
The morning will be classroom based where
the instructor will introduce the standards and
the engineering skills necessary to apply them.
The afternoon will be spent working in small
groups applying the knowledge gained in the
morning. During the afternoon workshop, a
number of additional subject matter experts
will be on hand to spend time with individual
groups to help with the design. By the end of
this course, delegates will understand how
applying engineering standards to cinema
design ensures a high standard of repeatable
performance.
This course is designed for more than just an
introduction to Video Calibration. Attendees will
get an overview of the complete professional
calibration process, the hardware & software
used as well as understanding the various
advance picture modes and controls.
A must attend course for industry professionals
interested in understanding the process and
the benefits of Video Calibration.
Video resolution is growing. The move from HD
to 4K / UHD and beyond (‘AnyK’) brings higher
bandwidths, bit depths and bigger demands on
video distribution.
This course explores the technology changes
and system requirements for next generation
video distribution.
It will also discuss the HDBaseT format and its
role in moving higher resolution video around
the home.

Do you design and install home theatres?
Do you want to know how you can include the
newest audio technologies?
Learn the essentials of real world theatre
design, incorporating the newest sound
developments from Dolby and Auro.
Understand how these new object based audio
formats will affect your cinema designs and if
you really can make the leap from 5.1 to 13.1 in
the real world.
For explanations of how these modern audio
developments will enhance your real world
theatre designs, this is the course for you.
Are you friend or are you foe?
Bridging the sometimes arduous
communication gap between the other
professionals in our prestigious projects can
be daunting at first. With CEDIA guidance
and education you will be well on your way
to integrating with other trades as a seamless
team, to deliver only the best.
The purpose of this course is to provide a
foundation for understanding IP (Internet
Protocol). It is appropriate for both beginners
and individuals looking to formalise and
increase their IP networking knowledge. With
the vast majority of subsystems now having the
ability to be converged over an IP network, this
is arguably the most important topic to make
sure that you have a solid foundation in.
By the end of this course, participants should
be able to: explain common network protocols
such as TCP, UDP, IP, DHCP, DNS, and NAT,
understand the functions of a consumer
router in a wired environment and begin basic
troubleshooting in a consumer level IP network.
This one-day course is designed to give
students a solid understanding of lighting
control fundamentals.
Lighting control installation can be a profitable
area for residential integrators. However,
systems should be designed, installed and
documented correctly for long-term reliability.
Lighting technology has advanced a great deal
in recent years. It is now a highly complex field.
This course starts by exploring lamp types,
their characteristics and capabilities. A strong
emphasis is placed upon the science behind
the ‘art’ of lighting. Other subjects covered
include colour temperature, power law, series
vs. parallel wiring, voltage drop and cabling
sizing.

WiFi connectivity is a key communication
method for much of the personal technology
we use today. The increasingly crowded WiFi
spectrum is busy delivering media, email, VoIP
and other services to home owners and their
neighbours! With this in mind it’s essential
that AV engineers fully understand wireless
technology to ensure fast and reliable service
to their customers.
This one day course goes back to basics to
understand the fundamental technology behind
wireless and RF (Radio Frequency) transmission
as a physical layer in the OSI model. The course
compares wireless to other physical layer types
and explores the behaviours of RF considering
data speed, frequency and coverage.
Students will also learn about wireless security,
making sure customer networks are protected
and how to expand a wireless network to cover
larger areas.
This course follows the Lighting Fundamentals
day and provides a more in-depth understand-
ing of the subject. It focuses on the practical
application of lighting control in the residential
market.
The course is aimed at developing installation
engineers and designers who have a basic
understanding of lighting control. Students will
learn about energy consumption and other
ecological considerations. Other related issues
such as bathroom fans, emergency lighting,
blinds, awnings and weather stations will be
discussed. Students will discover common
pitfalls and establish best practice in all areas.
Students can expect to leave with a strong
understanding of the complete technical
solution for lighting control systems.
With nearly all the devices we now install
in the home touching an IP network, this
seminar will look at the different methods for
accessing home systems from The Internet.
From maintenance to monitoring we will
be discussing how to balance usability,
performance and security to provide your
customers with fantastic functionality, and
you with additional business opportunities.
