System of Attestation of Conformity. Requirements
Factory Production Control [FPC]
A FPC should be available with documented procedures, regular inspections and testing, control of equipment and raw materials. Everything should be documented and a responsible person designated. PURPOSE To ensure that the products commercialized meet the performance characteristics declared.
Initial Type Testing [ITT] The manufacturer must declare all the essential operating characteristics, which should undergo initial testing. Test samples should be representative of the standard product manufacturing. Tests should be performed / managed by the Notified Body. PURPOSE Determination of mandatory characteristics for products, by testing and / or calculations
Initial inspection of FPC
Surveillance of FPC
PURPOSE To verify that the specifications of the standard are met. To check that the processes are carried out according to the documented procedures.

Essential Characteristics. Application of Test Results
The rules are defined in the series of standards prEN/EN 15269. They are based on the consensual technical opinions, the experience on fire resistance tests and the interpolation of results.
The rules for considering of the field of application are those defining the variations on the product being tested, and that are possible to be applied without further testing to fire resistance and /or smoke control.
Direct field of application The rules are defined in the standards EN 1634-1 y EN 1634-3. They are based on the test results.

HPS – Hardware performance sheet. EN 16035
This is a summary of information proceeding from the test reports required to assess the interchangeability of a particular element of building hardware The HPS is a part of the technical documentation to be submitted to the Notified Body, when the rules of the extended field of application are desired to be used. A HPS may be performed by: ► Manufacturer of buiding hardware or ► Door manufacturer or ► Notified Body In any case, it is the responsibility of the Notified Body to verify that the content is correct and up to date.

Essential Characteristics. “Cascading” Tests
The cascading tests relate to the possibility that the companies have, being supplier of any component/s of a particular product to the assembler or manufacturer, - who then manufactures and puts on market the final product, - to be able to perform ITT´s on certain product models already assembled and to cede the use of such tests to the assembler or end product manufacturer.
This deals with a possibility in which the “systems enterprise", "spectrum manufacturer" or companies suppliers of any of the components of the final product, hereinafter "Supplier", cedes the ITT to their customers, assemblers or end product manufacturers, hereinafter "Manufacturer".
What are the cascading tests?
Requirements for using the results of cascading ITT
S M
Written contract between the Supplier who performed the ITT and the Manufacturer, containing the authorization for such transfer.
The Supplier should provide the Manufacturer with all the technical documentation that supports the CE Marking: Test report, Classification Report, EXAP Reports, assembly and/or manufacturing instructions; product specifications, .... This documentation should be part of the Manufacturer's FPC. This documentation should be preserved for 10 years (from the date of manufacture).
The Manufacturer is responsible for ensuring that his product possesses the same characteristics and/or benefits that the product subjected to the mentioned ITT´s, and has been assembled in accordance with the Supplier's instructions.
The Manufacturer and his staff should receive training from the Supplier.
