Take Two Paths To Stress Reduction Stress may be unavoidable in your life, but you can still reduce its negative impact with some healthy mental and physical habits. Try these techniques for focusing your mind and your body in a better direction: Practice mindfulness. You relieve the pressures of daily life temporarily by slowing down. Pay attention to the present moment, without worrying about the future, what’s fair, what’s good or bad, and so on. Walk a little more slowly to work, listening to your body for signs of tension. Take a few slow, deep breaths as you wait for the elevator or while you sit at your desk waiting for Web pages to load. Focus on what your body is telling you, and you’ll be able to manage its responses to pressure more effectively, instead of allowing stress to control you. Get enough exercise. Physical activity focuses your energy outward. Exercise also strengthens your immune system. A vigorous walk at lunch can do wonders for your stress levels. A regular workout—swimming, bike riding, weight training—can help you manage stress better over the long term. Don’t forget low-impact techniques such as yoga, tai chi, and other stress relievers that emphasize stretching and reducing muscle tension.

Skipping Lunch? Not Good For Kids

Kids may not be eating as much fast food these days, which is a posi-tive trend, but they’re also not eat-ing lunch all the time. A study of the eating patterns of 3,647 children from 4-13 years, reported by The Health Site website, found that 17 percent of kids 9-13 skip lunch on a given day (and close to 25 percent on weekends), as well as 13 percent of younger children. Nutritionists and pediatricians warn that children who don’t eat lunch get fewer nutrients like calcium and fiber than those who consume a mid-day meal. Lunch can be an important source of vitamin D, potassium, and magnesium, all essential to a healthy diet for growing bodies.

The Future Is A Changin... The City of Aurora previously stated that the 15 acre plot between Blackhawk and Anheim was slated for Low-Density housing, with 3-4 story buildings containing about 500 units (Estimated 1500 Residents). Our representative Molly Markert has now advised that the lot has been replanned as a high density housing 6 story buildings ( the size of St. Andrews) with about 2500 residents (and their pets and vehicles)!

Heather Gardens has 4,000 residents on 200 acres. There is a Town hall meeting on July 21, 2015 6:30pm Heatheridge Golf course the developers, and RTD. See you there!

Monthly Crime Tip Tips to keep your home secure while you are away during the daytime hours: * Always utilize high security deadbolt strike plates on

all of your exterior doors. * Utilize security storm doors. * Never leave a window open when you are away. * Make it seem as if someone is home by leaving a TV

or radio on. * Keep handbills, newspapers and delivered items

cleared off of your front porch. * Keep fence gates closed and locked. * Keep curtains and blinds closed when you are away. * Utilize a burglar alarm with loud exterior sounder and

post the alarm company decals on your doors and win-dows.

* Keep landscaping trimmed so it does not obscure your windows or doors from the street or your neighbors view.

* Be thoughtful about what you post on social media sites that tell others that you are away from home.

* Provide trusted neighbors with your emergency con-tact information.

* Encourage neighbors who are at home during the day to watch for and report suspicious activity to 9-1-1 as soon as possible.

New Trash Program :: Lies Waste Systems Lies Waste Systems is a locally owned and family operated trash company. CCWNA has partnered with Lies Waste Systems to bring our residents a low cost trash and recycling program that also gives back to our community. For every resident that utilizes this program, CCWNA will receive a contribution of $2 per month to go towards neighborhood improvements and projects. We believe that this partnership will go a long way towards improving our community while also saving residents money on trash and recycling collection services. Other advantages include supporting local business and allowing individual residents the flexibility to choose the services that they want and/or need. The pricing for this program is listed below:

* $39 every three months for weekly trash service. $6 every three months will be added to the bill as a CCWNA contribution, which will be transferred to CCWNA once payment is received. Total cost will be $45 every three months.

* Optional Add-On Service: $6 every three months for biweekly recycling service.

* Optional Add-On Service: $3 every three months for (1) 96 gallon cart rental.

Existing customers of Lies Waste Systems will be converted to this program on July 1st, 2015 and all subsequent billings will be billed at the CCWNA rate. Neighborhood Beautification Project Thanks to the CCWNA board members and all the Volunteers for making the neighborhood beautification project such a huge success. It would have not been possible without each one of you. Theparameteron theYalefence lineof theourneighbor-hood looks great with the decorative rock. But what was even a bigger success were all the neighbors that came together that took pride in our neighborhood and were willing to shovel rock all day to get the job done. It turned into not only a work day but a fun day meeting each other for the first time. We had people from just about every block in the neighborhood. Also, a big shout out to the Brock family and their church membersfromtheSoutheastChurchonYale. They not only opened up the church restrooms to the volun-teers but provided beverages and snacks and helped work the project! Over all, it was such a great experience and again, thanks to everyone involved.

Prevent Back Pain Before It Strikes Back pain can make your work difficult no matter what job you do. Lifting heavy items is only one potential source of dam-age; poor posture and repetitive movements can also cause strain and pain. Keep your back in good shape with these general tips from the Mayo Clinic website: • Getsomeexercise.Losingweightandstayinginshapewill

decrease wear and tear on your back muscles. Combine aerobic activity with strength training that stretches and strengthens your stomach and back.

• Practicegoodposture.Yourparentswererightwhentheytold you to stand up straight. Make a point of keeping your weight balanced on both feet without slouching. Use a chair with good back support, and make sure it’s the right height, allowing you to keep both feet flat on the floor and your knees on the same level as your hips.

• Learnhowtolift.Youknowthedrill:Liftwithyourlegs, not your spine. Hold heavy loads close to your body, and maintain your back’s natural curve as you carry. Don’t try to show off, enlist help from co-workers.

• Limitrepetition.Lookforwaystocutdownonrepetitivemotion in your work. Take frequent breaks, and alternate strenuous tasks with less demanding work. Arrange your workspace to cut down on unnecessary reaching or bend-ing. Position tools like your keyboard, computer screen, and mouse appropriate to avoid injuries caused by long-term repetitive activities.

• Stretch regularly. Pay attention to your body’s signals.Shift positions, walk around, and stretch often to keep your body in good condition.
