Just like a normal laptop, once you turn on your
Chromebook, it will ask you to sign into an
account. Unlike a normal laptop, the account
username and password to sign in will be the
same as your Google Account

Students are allowed to set up access to home wireless networks on their Chromebooks. This willallow students to access resources needed to complete schoolwork.If you have trouble connecting a Chromebook to your home network, contact the CCPS HELP DESK(540) 829-2040 or your Internet provider.Chromebooks are content filtered no matter what network they are on (blocked from pornography,hate, violence, most social media). Any student who attempts to bypass the content filter is inviolation of the Acceptable Use Agreement and subject to disciplinary action.If a student does not have home Internet access, documents, worksheets, videos and contentneeded for homework can be downloaded to Google Drive or USB and can be accessed offlinewithout access to the internet. You can use them all independently.
A Chromebook is different from a traditional laptop.Chromebooks use Google’s operating system, Chrome OS(Operating System), instead of using the Windows or mac OSoperating systems. These machines are designed to be usedprimarily while connected to the Internet, with mostapplications and documents living in the “cloud.” Filescan bedownloaded and stored on the Chromebook, but storage isminimal.
